Avoid Pleasant Hill Rd. between Taylor Blvd. and Blue Ridge Dr. due to a traffic hazard of a downed power pole.

About 3,000 people in the area are without power.

PGE and Police are on scene.

If it’s not a fire hydrant then it’s a power pole you got a 50/50 chance when you don’t know how to drive…

Thank goodness I plugged in my Tesla this morning.

Next to fall and take out that same circuit, all the branches leaning on the wires along Reliez Valley Road. Already took out power on July 4 and there’s still plenty left. You’d think trimming them back ahead of time would be less expensive than triple overtime on a holiday.

MoparorNocar…………… well technically i dont have my roadrunner at the moment but yes , that area in general is notorious for hot Roding. i mean, “cough couch” speeding so when a power goes out its either a capasater blew from the heat or someone hit the curb so to speak

@JUSTIN….WTH is a capasater?

It’s part of the Scat Pack available at Direct Connection.

What I found really funny were the people on one of the detour streets west of Pleasant Hill road, the detour provided by PHPD and PGE, getting upset with all the drivers on their block. I had to take several times today for varying reasons.

One sign said this is our neighbor hood, don’t drive here.

Another said, slow down.

On the bend, a family was out there blowing a siren horn and yelling at everyone to slow down. I was doing 2ph and was yelled at to slow down. Get a life people!

One house had their kid, their kid!!!!!, step out into the street intentionally when a car was coming. Seriously, what is wrong with people?

Get a grip people, power was out, roads are blocked, people will and have the right to drive through there.

What we the residents did not find funny was that since 10:30 when the power went out, PGE and MPD (not PHPD) designated our small neighborhood street as a detour, and for most of the day people were flying up and down our street as if it were the 680 with little regard or respect for the residents or the children that live there, or our personal properties. To set a few things straight. No one was doing 2 MPH – the emergency cones were driven over several times, and our cars narrowly missed – so much so that at 1PM we eventually called MPD to come help and to enforce the speed limit – they handed out several speeding tickets. It was a circus. Secondly – the sign verbatim read “This is our neighborhood, speed limit is 25 MPH, Please drive slowly?” Yes it was a detour set up by PGE/MPD and while people may have the right to use that detour. They do not have the right to endanger the people/property on that street. And also please share the truth, not a fabricated account of the event from the vehicle of the car. Have some respect and consideration.

I am sorry for the typo, I was doing 20mph, not 2mph. I am ‘sorry’ you were inconvenienced because PD used YOUR street as a detour. Next time maybe they can ask your permission first. Would that help?

One sign may have said that, but the one near the stop sign did not, we both know that. Was it really necessary to yell at the cars? Or sound off air horns? Or have the kid jump in the street?

As for the cones, well when they are not placed on the center line, and a large Amazon truck or bigger has to come through, they will be hit. The ones by the house on the curve with the construction were no where near in the center, they were placed in such a way that it was only one lane on that section.

I saw no speeders, traffic was too much, on my numerous trips through there. I am sure you called local PD and I am sure they cited several drivers for speed infractions …. Maybe they did, but maybe this is exaggerated a bit.

Parent, maybe you are one of those that think that people should just tolerate bad behavior. I was there present for the entire time and know exactly what was going on – your little drive by ‘several’ times as you mention is not exactly all the facts. And I know exactly what was on each sign on each end. You saw no speeders…do you live on this street? That is like driving past the ocean and saying you saw no whales…when clearly there are whales. It is pretty obvious that you have an opinion that is shaded. I certainly hope your home space is never violated the way ours was yesterday (but as they say Karma.) None of us were upset that they used our short little street – (which in itself was ridiculous – the street behind is twice the width and length) – we were upset because drivers were using our street the same way they do the 680 (which is disrespectful) and that the PD took so long to even do anything about it . And no we don’t need PD to ask permission, we just need them to be present just as they were present the entire time watching a pole get fixed on a closed road. with no traffic They could have 4 vehicles standing there, but took forever to send one officer over to where the issue was. Maybe you could have consideration for other people.

Your home space was not violated, it is a public street. PD was not sitting out there the entire time a pole was being replaced either, they were there only initially. Maybe they took ‘so long’ because they were dealing with an emergency and not inconvenienced people just complaining.
People were upset, hence them yelling at vehicles to slow down when those vehicles were not breaking any laws. And I notice you have not addressed the kid jumping out in the road, prompted by an adult.
My drive by several times was to point out each time I drove through, there were not opportunities for speeders. Nothing more, nothing less.
Obviously you are shaded as you feel violated that PD had the audacity to put so many cars on YOUR street and not the next street over.
Glad you and your neighbors banded together over this horrific event that scarred your people.

Can tell when there’s problem on Clayton Road, Clayton PD detours vehicles past our place.
IF there’s a problem with speeding a simple phone call to PD corrects problem.
They are a very responsive department.
Sometimes we’ll even sit on the porch with a beverage and watch ’em go by.

On Taylor Blvd, not to long after the Taylor Blvd/Pleasant Hill Rd split, coming toward Greenhills Dr, there are a couple of low hanging branches that need to be cut up. Also, people coming from Pleasant Hill Rd merging into Taylor Blvd DO NOT OBEY THE YIELD SIGN!! I repeat, DO NOT OBEY THE YIELD SIGN!!. I have also seen drivers having close calls with bicyclists at the Pleasant Hill Rd/Taylor Blvd merge going towards Reliez Valley Rd. Taylor Blvd also seems to be the shortcut or getaway road for those causing trouble in Walnut Creek or Lafayette. Those coming and going from Acalanes High DO NOT care about following rules and causing an accident. That area could easily keep the police busy but I can count the times I have seen officers patrolling that area in the last 5 years.

Yes, PESFG, I also rarely see drivers yield there. To avoid a potential accident, I try to stay in the so-called slow lane, which is usually overrun with speeders and tailgaters.
Though any officer/deputy can stop you, that area is CHP jurisdiction.
