REMINDER: Avoid Treat Blvd. Between San Miguel And Bancroft Rd. (In Both Directions)

As we previously reported, due to road construction, you should avoid Treat Blvd. between Bancroft Rd. in Walnut Creek and San Miguel Rd. in Concord at all costs.

The road is backed up in both directions.

If you get stuck, you’ll be there for a while.

Along with pavement rehabilitation, the project will construct curb ramps to meet accessibility standards, adjust utilities for pavement construction, install conduits for future fiber optic and signal interconnect, install traffic signal video detection cameras for signal timing, and update traffic striping and pavement markings to current standards.

Construction is expected to last through September.

So was the genesis of this the curb ramps? Seems everything else is either planning for a distant future, to connect signals, where immediate construction would not be necessary, or for cosmetic (striping…really?).

.
Curb ramps are required for ADA compliance… you know, to allow the disabled in wheelchairs, scooters, and similar conveyances to seamlessly traverse streets and intersections.
.
You, me, and othera may not appreciate curb ramps right now but we’re not getting any younger.

And no, the road section between Bancroft and Oak Grove was in horrible shape. The included curb ramp work is “bang for the buck” and less inconvenience to the general public.

The curb ramps and other ADA compliance construction is required whenever pavement rehabilitation is done. All of the other work is done in order to minimize any cutting into the newly paved surface to extend its life.

So can’t use Treat thru that area and YVR is down to 1 lane for median bush trimming as the go around so everyone is screwed going westbound.
Unbelievable screwed up planning, on top it have 3 guys working and 6 standing around.

Everyone has a right to use any available streets to bypass Treat Blvd. Drivers DO NOT have the right to speed through these streets. The increase in traffic and speeding in the Vista Diablo Community has become ridiculous. Please slow down and respect the area like you would the street where you live.

Why would the City do this on the hottest days? Very hard on your vehicle too. Watch out for road rage because people are hot and angry.

Through September? Should be awesome once school is back in come August.

If you choose to cut through the nearby neighborhoods to avoid the traffic – we, the residents, *expect* you to drive the speed limit (it’s 25, and that means 25, not more) and be respectful of the fact that you are using residential streets where people walk their dogs and children play on the sidewalks. There have been far too many people speeding down the neighborhood streets as they attempt to bypass the traffic.

Good luck with that, especially with the crowd with the tinted windows. One benefit? Their getaways after the fact will be slowed by the construction.

It’s not only Treat Blvd. , Yganco Valley Rd was backed up from Pine Hollow to oak grove. Down to one lane due to tree trimming in the median. There was also road work happening on Oak Grove between YV and Treat. Commuting in was backed up big time.

Hopefully the Ygnacio Valley tree trimming won’t last very long. Thanks for the info on the Bancroft project. I was wondering. Glad I can stay home most of the time.

Please drive slow and safely on residential streets. Do not try and pass or cut others off in residential that are driving carefully! Your commute is impacted but so are the lives of the people who live on these streets by all the traffic and road rage. There are children, dogs, elders, bicyclists and pedestrians in these areas. Don’t make a momentary choice that you will regret your whole life if someone gets hurt!

The city got large funding to reduce pedestrians deaths. All the constructions of sidewalks near downtown and near the police station is all the same project I believe. I wish that included road paving

People on Treat quit blocking the intersections! The horn honking at the people who do this is yet another annoyance.

Treat was/is a total disaster, one of the worst roads maybe in all of California. Obviously the construction is a major inconvenience, but in the end the road will not look and feel like it’s in sone third world country. Now they need to work
on Ygnacio Valley road next

The part that bothers me is that both Treat and Ygnacio are cut down by a lane or two at the same time. I don’t know what they’re thinking. If they’re removing two lanes, the other major road in the city should be wide open.

You’ve also concurrently have a lane removed on Kirker Pass heading into Pittsburg.

Live close to Treat blvd, so can usually hear the indy 500 like sounds as idiots rev up at lights to race down the Blvd. That sound has markedly diminished. When you are out in your yard, easier to hear the birds. Another benefit of road work.

There needs to be a toll for drivers taking Ygnacio to bypass 4 / 680.
