A man died of an apparent drug overdose on an Antioch-bound BART train Monday morning, according to transit agency officials.

At about 11:15 a.m., someone called to report the apparent overdose victim while the Yellow Line train was at or near the Concord Station.

Attempts were made to resuscitate the man, according to BART spokesperson Chris Filippi.

This is the fourth death at a Contra Costa County BART station in the last three weeks.

I guess the price of a bart ticket will go up enough to cover the narcan they will have to hand out to all riders.
I haven’t been on bart this century!

Very sorry to hear this. But as I said before,, take drugs and one could easily OD. There is always a consequence for your own stupid decision.

And we should let natural consequences happen.

The WEF has stated their best form of controlling us is drugs and video games. This is not organic. Sad that so many fall into their trap. RIP to another lost child.

It’s alcohol and painkillers for most of these people, so it’s not a “problem”. They’ll tell you that their crazy drunk fathers yelling at them or beating them was just them being “raised right” and “died young” from liver disease.

Question, were there fewer OD deaths when possession of illegal drugs for personal use was a felony?
.
Judges had a proven way to get most substance abusers clean n sober and keep them that way.
.
Charged with a felony for possession upon conviction Judge would impose a harsh State Prison sentence.
Sentence was stayed on condition a term of probation generally 3 – 5 years was completed. Conditions of probation included attendance of a substance abuse program, random drug testing, commit no additional crimes and maintain employment. At completion of probation could petition The Court to have felony changed to a misdemeanor on their record.
.
Was made VERY clear, violation of terms of probation would mean imposition of full term in State Prison.
.
Next time you hear of an OD death remember DEMs running this state took away a proven method Judges had to save lives.

You might want to read about what happened in Huntington, West Virginia, which was called the “Overdose Capitol of America.” They tried the “lock ’em up” approach and when they realized the police weren’t winning, they called in a mental health addiction specialist.

The Systemic Cancer also known as the Bart Board of Directors needs to Go.
These are the same clowns who support homeless using Our trains as a safe haven. ….and apparently they support the drug use as well.

Until things change st the Board, NOTHING WILL CHANGE.

DON’T USE BART. MAKE BART THE NEXT BUD LIGHT!!!

I am surprised this doesn’t happen more often. While I do have empathy for anyone dying (period), I am so grateful that I no longer have to ride BART every day for work and be subjected to its going further down the drain.

Does it seem to be – get on a BART train and then take the drugs – or, take the drugs and then ride BART? Since there have been so many recently, it seems that would be helpful to know.

The big question is “Did he pay the fare to ride?” If not, they should bill his next of kin. Way to go Bart….you never cease to amaze me.

@SMILEWC ~
Yes, one wonders if before or after getting on BART.
A few have mentioned seeing people shooting up on the train.
My concern then, if on the train is there any residue left of deadly drug(s).

Oh, please July 11, 2023 - 9:09 PM - 9:09 PM

Why limit to before or on when he probably used before AND on.

Mc July 11, 2023 - 3:08 PM - 3:08 PM

Use Bart to get to dealer then use train as place to use/OD

You pick your poison and not all poisons are created equal. My caffeine habit is not endangering my safety or others. And I can (and do) stop drinking caffeine for any amount of time I want. These things are not the same as hard drugs. Some people are just weak.

Yes so very sad yet. This persons decisions were made when they did what they did! However I would never ever let my teen ride bart alone ever. The choices bart has made makes it unsafe and having to deal with people and issue they should never have to deal with. Bart is negligent for allowing the situation they are in! From paying people for not working to the dangerous place they are putting people in! No reason for this! You want people to ride bart?! Make it safe for the everyday person not a place for drug users to have a quiet place to do what you will never stop them from doing! What ever happened to having people patrol the bart all the time? I remember when you could not even drink water on a train or eat ! What is it now?! Not going to lie certain times and places it’s freaking scary and never know if you prick yourself with a used needle or sit in poop or have some people harassing you?! I know when it was better and cost a third and was safe! Now it’s a crap shoot . Did you see someone die? That crap will stick with a person forever ! The fact you have no way to help, not sure if you should? Also causes issues with people who are ill due to nothing they did but because you never know and have no way to help? Someone please come up with any answers if possible. But after the last time I rode home from the Warfield I will not use it it was awful and will drive always . Bart is safe on occasion now yet from what I have witnessed I’m not even speaking of now.. you can keep your 30 + dollars for 2 people. I will spend it on parking and bridge tolls and leave earlier… Bart is sad how they want more and more yet do nothing to fix the issues!

I think Wiener will propose making BART trains “safe injection sites” to prevent this from happening. Also may suggest raising the bridge tolls to cover the cost for this!

Boarders would be better than all the penniless charity rabble we’re getting.
Boarders would stay at a boarding house and pay for their rooms and meals after illegally crossing the BORDER into the USA.
What we have are undocumented aliens invading our nation, mooching food and shelter with no regard for our laws and no respect for our BORDER.
