Last year I wrote a piece on this site about an increase in utilities. We just received our PG&E bill. We have hardly used our A/C and only one daughter is home for the summer yet our bill was about 30% higher compared to last year at this time. Now, prepare for home insurance rates to increase very soon as more insurance companies leave the state. I never realized this, but Prop 103 kept prices down by suppressing rates by only allowing these companies a profit of about 15%. Due to the wildfires and flooding to replace so many homes, many insurance companies lost huge amounts of money. These rates could easily go from 5 to 10x what you are paying now and there will be nothing the Insurance Commissioner of California can do. Good luck. Then there is Scott Weiner who just snuck in a bill to increase bridge tolls to fund public transportation in which if you look around our city regarding the County Connection which never appears to have more than a few people on their buses. Lastly, a barrel of oil is around $70 (very cheap) however, price at the pump is approaching $5. We are being bent over by inept leaders.

Well, there’s thought that VP Kamaka Harris left it ( she has been an illegal drug user in the past)

The obedient media now are focusing on how a known drug addict may have brought cocaine into the White House, and not reporting at the various influence peddling schemes the House is uncovering. Concord City Council just gave itself a raise and then gave both the City Manager and City Attorney 14% raises over the next 3 years.

There are so many things wrong in the US today but there is one thing people are not paying attention to and that is the escalation of the war in Ukraine. Biden is now sending cluster bombs to the Ukraine which he has previously said were “war crimes”. So little by little the war escalates. Even to a point where a nuclear power plant could be blown up. This could easily escalate to a point of no return. Even if the odds are great things change very fast. Don’t forget the Russia appears now to be an unstable country run by unstable people. Add an unstable Biden and there could be trouble.

We snow skied at Alpine Meadows on July 4th, and it was terrific. Donner Lake is absolutely beautiful and unspoiled. Pretty cold for swimming this time of year however.
