Power back on in crystyl ranch at 6pm. I had a shopping cart full of beer at BevMo, 10 feet from the checkout the power went out and I left empty handed.

Our current electrical grid cannot even provide enough power for hot days when people have their air conditioners on.
How can it provide power to charge the all-electric vehicles were supposed to be driving in the next 10 years? ( especially since the state will not build new power plants, and wind and solar are not Dependable 24/7)
” we’re supposed to be driving” The ability to drive, wherever you want (oh, the audacity), is not really part of the overall plan. If they can get everyone in all electric vehicles, and ensure sufficient electricity is not available, well, just another step to statist Utopia.

Caused by the weather? Well, it sure is good to know the outage wasn’t caused by all those EV”s.
At least the govt can control the weather…….with enough money, that is.
Exactly – now how will this grid handle x thousands of new EVs when there is insufficient generation and insufficient transmission and distribution infrastructure to handle this increase load?
And don’t tell me they’re “planning “ on it; they planned to build the high speed rail on time and within budget…..and it’s one monumental FAILURE!
I guarantee there will NOT be sufficient electrical infrastructure to support Newscum’s “plans.”
Anything the state touches turns to $hit. Thank you dumbocrats. Incapable of looking at whole picture.
Moved to Phoenix 3 years ago. Have not experienced nor heard of power outage.

Isn’t this where PG&e just upgraded and put underground lines. They did all those great commercial shoots at the under ground lines. On Lyme ridge right there.
Patti Poppe made $51.2 million in 2021. Think about that as you sit in your dark house with no electricity. I wonder how many days Patti has had power out at her house?
Wondrous thing about underground lines they can take days to weeks to repair while above ground lines usually only take hours. Above ground connections and equipment can quickly be checked using thermal imaging equipment from ground level. Undergrounding is little more than a placating publicity stunt.
.
Public needs to wake up, thinking undergrounding of power lines will make poles go away.
After undergrounding lines along Kirker Pass Rd. they went thru cutting top sections of poles off leaving telephone and cable TV lines intact.
@ORIGINAL G…..I also wonder how much condensation builds up in the underground pipes that electrical lines run through and if they have someway to keep condensation at a minimum and if that was taken into consideration?
Power cables are routed thru buried CPVC pipes running between concrete vaults buried level with surrounding terrain and have steel plate covers. On Kirker Pass undergrounding there are two above ground boxes possibly housing fuses and power correction CAPs that were previously power pole mounted. My personal opinion, undergounding is a publicity stunt and something to hold up next time in Court.

Got side tracked, moisture isn’t a problem except were cable ends are spliced together in concrete vaults. Cable splicers especially high voltage splicers are precision artists. A connection done and insulated correctly can get wet with no problem. A bad or corroded connection or one that’s no longer tight tend to generate heat on their way to failure. Have no idea what inspection intervals are for undergrounded connections. Above ground it’s easy using a heat sensing camera.
Carried an old iphone with a FLIR camera clip on at work, used that thing several times a week.
These days it’s fun to point it at pole mounted oil filled transformers to see how hot they are.

There’s a transmission line, Trans Bay Cable, from Pittsburg power plant buried in the river that runs to SF. https://caltopo.com/map.html#ll=38.03749,-121.9049&z=14&b=mbt&a=fire https://www.transbaycable.com/operations.html

Alphabet approach to maintenance ? ? ? P for preventive, you schedule preventive maintenance on equipment. C for crisis, you let equipment failures dictate how your spares and manpower are used.

Used to tell bosses, “This is a heck of a way to run an airline”
They didn’t like when they were reminded, a piece of failed equipment was reported previously as needing attention.
Everyone should write a letter explaining their dissatisfaction with PGE in your area. Writing to the CPUC which governs PGE will get something rolling. Also wrote to the Concord officials with a copy to the CPUC pr vice versa.

I feel (just an “I” feel) such letters are a wasted effort. Newson appoints to the CUPC; PG&E is a Newson $$$$$$ contributor. They are all in it together.
Flood Patti Poppe’s in-box via email and snail mail.
Send copies to the entire board of directors…. Their information is on PG&E’s websites (or the applicable SEC website).
Talk by politicians (and PG&E’s management) is cheap; they’ve cycled through too many incompetent senior management employees since 2010 – and the BOD needs to be held accountable.

Your burn more fuel and cause more pollution using all electric.
This is all to sell millions of EV’s and batteries that will all go into a scrap pile after 10 years of people on the east coast freezing to death by the dozens per day when their car died and all the tow trucks and police have better things to do.They will go back to gasoline leaving EV’S as an option for the silly people.
The price of gas and electricity will be so high by then because they think it will drive you towards public ghetto transit.

Weather ? gimme a break – no wind… just the second hot day of the year! …and they want us to go electric!? PG&E can’t handle the grid or maintenance properly ….. not that it will do any good but Newscum is getting a scathing message from me
As mentioned here over the weekend there used to be “peaker plants”, mostly natural gas, which would come online during such emergencies. Those got torn down at the request of the globalwarmingphobics. Way too soon, they should have waited. We are not ready yet for what those phobics want. Probably needs another 50 years.

Saw semi bottom dump entering Peaker Plant at corner of Loveridge and Antioch Pittsburg highway hauling petroleum coke, a byproduct of oil refining process. Trucks still haul to large domed storage in Pittsburg where it’s loaded onto ships.

Back in the early 70’s, I used to ride with a good buddy some nights in his Coke hauling set of bottom dumps. We’d pick up the coke way out on west Hwy 4 and take the long slow grade trip to Pittsburg’s docks where we dumped it into the underground conveyor belts that took it up and into the Giant cargo ships that then took it to japan for steel making that made all those early Toyotas, Hondas, etc. Total curb weight was close to 80,000 lbs and required lots of down shifts going over the hill. Fun times listening to the CB “chatter”.
WTF sunny day mild wind. Get real PG&E

Weather my white a**….
The power grids have had it, Newscum doesn’t have a clue how to handle this..
Could it be from “poor” maintenance?
And what power grid would you point to that doesn’t experience an outage of the similar size in a heatwave? I am really curious about that.
Exactly – now how will this grid handle x thousands of new EVs when there is insufficient generation and insufficient transmission and distribution infrastructure to handle this increase load?

To the time of how many millions per year in salary and stock options?
Patti Poppe made $51.2 million in 2021. Think about that as you sit in your dark house with no electricity. I wonder how many days Patti has had power out at her house?
