Two people in a pickup truck died Friday night after they collided with another vehicle and overturned on eastbound state Highway 4 near Bay Point, ejecting them from the truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two-vehicle crash was reported around 8:15 p.m. on eastbound Highway 4 west of Bailey Road.

A GMC pickup truck collided into a Volkswagen sedan, causing the GMC to leave the roadway and overturn, ejecting both people from the truck, CHP officials said.

Both occupants of the GMC were taken to a hospital but succumbed to their injuries there. The Volkswagen driver was not injured in the crash, according to the CHP.

Seatbelts work. Use them.

Ejected means no seat belts. What a waste.

Predictable is preventable.
.
Did you know the seatbelts were patented in the mid-50s by a Volvo engineer? He and Volvo felt so strongly about saving lives and preventing injury that the feature was allowed to be used by other car companies at no charge or license fee.

Actually the first seat belt was patented in the U.S. in 1885 by Edward J. Claghorn.

A three-point seat belt was first patented in the U.S. in 1955 by Roger W. Griswold and Hugh DeHaven.

@BEANZY.…Mr. Griswold came up with the idea after a road trip to the opening of Wally World with his family in their custom station wagon. His son, Clark, was almost thrown through the windshield during that trip….the rest is history.

That Safeway gets hit every day stealing booze like that. I was in there a few days ago when door alarm went off, I heard it as I was checking out looked over since I was in the next to the end checkout line right there but I didn’t see anything then a Safeway employee walked by and said hey didn’t you see that guy roll out with basket of beer and liquor and I said no I didn’t and I even looked over. She knew I had tackled a shoplifter thief doing the same thing a couple weeks ago there and got the basket back wondered why I didn’t go after this guy and I said I did not see him otherwise I would have. I look forward to an opportunity like that to beat the living crap out of somebody and get the merchandise back.

when will they learn July 1, 2023 - 6:11 PM - 6:11 PM

At one time they would mention seat belt use with every crash reported. Now they wont because people somehow think its racist to be made to wear a seat belt.Anyone east of the hwy 4 hill wont wear a seat belt, they are too smart to use them and will just brace themselves in a crash. They have a degree in safety i guess.
Low IQ means short life span.

They don’t wear seatbelts over the hill as it makes it too difficult to duck when being shot at.

The kids in the truck were going way to fast and the VW driver was wearing his seat belt and in a VW.
Who wants to bet when they tell you the identity of the victims they will be 17-19 years old.
Better parenting could have saved 2 lives, i.m.o.

As someone who knew one of the victims. Your comments lack sympathy for the victims. Kids are now left without their loving father. Think about them before posting a heartless comment about how “it could’ve been prevented”. It happened and it’s done.

Oh, please July 8, 2023 - 1:19 PM - 1:19 PM

No one deserves or is entitled to sympathy, especially if they made a bad decision or were the cause of their own demise. We only should be entitled to reality and try to warn others.
