Nope. Come up with something else. Put more police on BART to make it safer and maybe people would ride it. Or just keep letting criminals get away with everything with no punishment and watch California crumble. I blame the entire government on both sides. Stop arguing over everything to prove you are better. Work together as a team and fix things. Enough being babies. Grow up.

Most california city dwellers are so brainwashed, they are happy to pay more for lower quality. They sleep better at night that way.

After all they have repeatedly voted for it by electing incompetent DEMs.
DEMs more interested in serving those giving them campaign contributions than in serving constituents.

I bet if we made it $40 to cross the bridge they would still need more money.

We need a proposition to be voted on that says bridge tolls can only be used to pay off the cost of the bridge and ongoing maintenance.

16

Hey didn’t we have that already?

Down with the government!!!

In California youse pazs yur taxes and youse take yur chances. What are they doing with all the gas tax they collect. Not much.

Leave it to dumb axx Weiner to propose it – of course not GG bridge, he knows he would get all kinds of Marin commuter complaints…. Need to vote out this incumbent too ASAP

The golden gate is a separate entity. They set their own rates, and it’s already higher than the other bridges, 8 or 9 dollars.

Not defending Weiner, but truth is truth.

Another stupid move. Just when you think they made every wrong turn possible “WHAM!” right into the wall. Does no one understand inflation????? If it costs me an extra $390 per year to go to work then I have to ask my employer for this so my employer has to give it to me and raise his prices or risk losing me as an employee. If he does not and I stay working my worth has been depreciated by $390 and I can no longer contribute that to the economy. Not magic! just stupid.

“For the seven affected state-owned bridges, the $1.50 toll increase would be in addition to a $1 hike scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2025, which voters in the Bay Area approved in 2018 with a measure designed to ease congestion and improve regional transit and highways. That would raise the total toll to $9.50 or more for most vehicles.”

14

If I recall correctly, voters on both sides of the bay voted on the toll increases. Given a larger population in SF that doesn’t take the Bay Bridge …of course they’d vote for the toll increase.

So I would like to know where exactly all the money they currently collect per day is going. Time to open the books.

If Weiner is behind it, you know it’s bad. This is just another vote buying scheme.

Plenty of people in the Bay Area like taking a weiner up the ass.

@DOMO your a100% right SF can go bankrupt and they deserve Weener. I’m afraid the whole state will go down the drain. They can’t fix anything with out raising TAXES. For GOD sake vote them out

Oh hell no

So because BART is a screwed up mess, I will need to pay more to cross the Antioch bridge to see my relatives in the Central Valley. And in other news, another large building in SF, this one on Howard Street, just sold for a fraction of what was expected due to the war on SF commuters. These Weiner type politicians have no idea how to lead or manage government, they only know how to get themselves elected pandering to the Democrats who vote for entertainment pretending the result is not their fault.

18

Sigh, just another reason to eventually
Leave California with how mf expensive crap is getting around here

15

And more covered or slightly changed plates on vehicles. A plash of mud here and there or strategically placed tape and no toll paid..it’s not that hard to do..

The Democrat government is inept, feckless, worthless and corrupt. They can’t fix anything. They probably have no clue as to how to fix things. They only thing they know to do is taking peoples hard earned money. They endlessly want more and more and more, and it’s never enough.

What a surprise that Newsom and Wiener want to Transfer more money from other working folks to pay for the failing transit agencies and the collapsing cities that they created. Prepare for more increases across all spectrums. Many more will move from this liberal swamp…

Weren’t some of the bridges paid off before Willie Brown wanted his “landmark” bridge? Someday people are going to realize that these people didn’t belong in government but in a mental institution.

18

Having to raise taxes is a direct sign of failure of those in government.

14

Sickening

most all Y’all are saying it all for me,

So we get another dramatic increase in bridge fares because of the BART director’s inability to operate their train system.

13

Whatever happened to the plan to save the environment and to reduce congestion by encouraging the use of mass transit, carpooling, etc? I believe BART was, and still is a wonderful idea with its electric trains. In hindsight, the bridges were not a good idea. That promoted centralizing businesses and jobs in an area rather than spreading them out in communities where people live. On the other hand, high density is more efficient.

Raising prices on the bridges does not make sense regardless of whatever the plan is.

Maybe they should work on making public transportation safe, clean, and efficient. Since it’s none of those things, of course nobody wants to use it.

We’re going to be taxed so BART can keep paying its janitors $120k a year. Gut that system and start laying off, like a rational business owner would. We don’t get a vote or a voice in this?!!

10

Speaking of failing government mass transit systems – What about Jerry Clowns’ Bullet Train to nowhere? How are we going to pay for that government boondoggle?
