The City of Concord’s contractor is set to begin the full depth reclamation (FDR) process on Treat Blvd. starting today.
The work is expected to last through the first week of August. The limits of FDR are from Walnut Creek City limits (in front of Carondelet High School) to the Oak Grove Road intersection.
The Full Depth Reclamation process for this project involves removing the top 10 inches of asphalt, and pulverizing and mixing another 18 inches of underlying asphalt/base rock in place with cement to a total depth of 28 inches, followed by new, hot mix asphalt being placed up to 2 inches below the surface. The final top 2 inches of rubberized hot mix asphalt will be placed all together, for all lanes, as the final item of work of the paving operation.
The FDR work will take place in 3 Phases for both the eastbound and westbound directions concurrently, as follows: Phase 1 – Outside Lanes, Phase 2- Middle Lanes, Phase 3 – Inside Lanes. Up to two lanes will be closed at a time during lane closure hours, between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the eastbound direction, and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the westbound direction.
Two lanes need to be closed during work hours due to the use of heavy equipment involved, and to be able to provide a safe working environment. The lane undergoing the FDR process will be closed continuously for approximately 10 days to allow time for curing. Two lanes of traffic will be open to traffic at the end of each work shift.
Significant delays in traffic are expected.
Hmmm, didn’t they do this type of work in the middle of the night in years past?
Heavy equipment can be brought in in the middle of the night who are these jokers kidding what are they going to interrupt somebody’s sleep to do this?
I’ll bet your money the rainy season next year all the work they did there will be just as many potholes cracks and fishers as there is right now nothing is going to change.
This work will be like rebuilding the road from scratch. Upcoming rainy seasons shouldn’t be able to cause any potholes to develop.
I wish the city would repave Whitman Road (especially due to the large construction machines killing the street).
That’s the kind of work I like to see the City do.
WC should take note and finish their repaving of YVR from San Miguel to the city border line up on the hill … it’s horrible
Interesting, roads Romans build 2,200 years ago don’t have potholes.
.
Start naming potholes after city council members, post PICs and see how fast they get fixed !
Roads from back then didn’t have as much traffic, nor is the traffic as heavy as big rig.
Two months????
Hope the bid was low enough…..
.
IT’S ABOUT TIME!!!
.
THAT SECTION OF TREAT BL. IS HORRENDOUS!!!
.
Judging by the traffic on Treat it’s another traffic jam success story.
That particular section of Treat Boulevard is not all that bad. Why don’t they re-pave the section of Treat that really needs it, between Oak Grove and San Miguel Rd!
Both side of Oak Grove are pretty bad (eastbound at least). Oak Grove to San Miguel is the next section getting done after this one. It’s part of this year’s project. I believe this is getting taken all the way to Clayton Rd., but the San Miguel to Clayton project might be next year. I do wish they’d repave San Miguel while they’re at it. That road is a minefield.
Yes San Miguel Rd is awful. It seems to be sinking down into the creek at portions. Way too much Road traffic. ☹️
The Volcano has re-erupted.
When are they going to replace Willow Pass from 6th Street to Highway 4?
