The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.
Today’s question:
QUESTION: Which one do you prefer? Costco, Sam’s Club or just a regular grocery store? (tell us why)
Talk about it….
Hubby loves Costco, … I just along for the ride so we can stop at the stores I want on the way home.
No Sam’s Club Membership, Thank Goodness!
Been a Sam’s club member for decades, tried Costco a few months back and never went back, too crowded, parking sucks and even though it’s closer to Clayton it’s a pain in the ass getting there traffic/street wise, Sam’s Club is further but a more enjoyable drive if you could call it that.
Lately just do Safeway in Clayton, it’s close I don’t care about the prices or how much I’m spending compared to Costco or Sam’s.
JURYISOUT~
Oh, Sam’s Club is good, and have gone with Family members who have memberships.
If you could imagine,… my Hubby with 2 ‘Big Store’ memberships! Noooo….!!
Costco
I trust their products and I love their return policy.
Costco. Buy in bulk and save $. The Costco hot dog and pizza are also good.
I use to go to Costco, when my daughter was still living at home, and I was entertaining on a regular basis. I was also Master of Ceremonies for the Scandinavian Club and Costco were a great place to get different foods and other things needed for parties and big gatherings. Now living alone I don’t go to Costco, or bigger stores in general, I get confused. Have bought a few things at Walmart, last was a bike. Never been to Sam’s Club. I do most of my shopping at Grocery Outlet, Trader Joe’s and Safeway, with the first 2 being my favorites, due to their prices and selection. I live close to Nob Hill and go there at times, because it is close by, but they tend to be expensive. When I lived in Benicia I went to Raley’s a lot (Nob Hill), I like Sprouts, but only go once in awhile, they are not close to where I live and parking can be difficult. However, they have certain specialties that makes it worth while to go at times.
ad nauseam!
Focus sweet lady, focus.
I like to go to irregular grocery stores. They tend to be more interesting.
The supermarket for my regular groceries, and Costco for bulk items like bath tissue, paper towels, and sparkling water, and large vitamin bottles. I also, like manty get a fair amount of stuff from Amazon/Prime now, when I don’t feel like going out, and need something, but not right away.
Although I detest grocery shopping, it’s necessary in order to sustain life as I know it. I’ve never been to Sam’s Club, and I will only go to Costco once in a blue moon. Costco is usually too crowded, and I always seem to encounter shoppers that are all over the place pushing their carts willy-nilly, not looking out for other shoppers.
I only shop once a month, and I don’t mind the short drive out to Pittsburg, so I prefer to do my shopping at WinCo. WinCo has a few products I like that other stores do not carry, they also have a larger meat and produce department than most stores.
We go to Costco where wifey does he magic act.
Get to the register and items have magically populated the cart.
Next trip will be trying return policy for thee first time.
An yes to hot dogs.
Worked for years across from Sam’s Club. Went in just a few times. Other family went more than I did.. Prefer regular grocery store now. Always like Costco when I want to buy what I can’t get anywhere else and if want bulk or something for Holidays. That need has changed greatly last few years. Frankly, it’s where I can cut costs, so don’t visit grocery stores like I did. Buying online for convenience is more expensive, but like having my Bottled Waters delivered that way..
Costco for a lot but some from grocery stores too.
SAMS OVER COSTCO. Costco used to have the best customer service, that is now gone. They don’t accept MC which is annoying and now peoples information is being summed from their pumps. Sams club has scan and go, THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE and a variety of items with great deals! No hassle parking, and curbside pickup! It is my ABSOLUTE fav!
It is not a case of preference of one store over another, it is specific to the item(s) needed. I buy the same stuff in the same places, not much variety, so go where the best price/option is.
for example, Walmart for flavored creamer, Costco for salad. Thrilling aspect of my life ain’t it?
The supermarket is awful. Safeway is nothing but problems. I like both Costco and Sam’s and go back and forth. I will say, Sam’s has a much tastier rotisserie chicken and the pre-packaged salads are cheaper. Costco has a better variety of cold foods. The little food stop has more variety at Sam’s, but I like Costco’s quality better. And, I will add that while Costco has a gas station and we use it frequently, the drivers in the parking lot are far more obnoxious and entitled. But, Costco is better for samples 🙂 So, it is a draw.
I do all 3, Costco, Sam’s, and local grocery store. Depends on what I need as well as volume. I don’t need 2 gallons of milk, or even just one, so I get 1/2 gallon at Winco. But things that can be frozen or dry packaged come from either Costco or Sam’s. Gas at the Costco in Concord since Sam’s here doesn’t have that.
I prefer Sam’s for many items, much much cheaper than Safeway. Costco has a few items I like but they have way too many overpriced organic items. Best item at Costco is their gasoline! Also hit Target and Walmart for a few items as needed.
Each store has its own purpose and I use all three.
I hated the Concord Costco, starting with the parking lot. The Nashville Costco is a 60-mile round-trip that I make once per month for meat, dog food, and coffee.
Sam’s is local, and I use them like a 7-11 store, a couple of times per week, for bread, cheeses, frozen breakfast, flour, and water.
I love Publix for their fresh fruits and veggies, lotto tickets, and items that I don’t need in a club-sized package.
grocery outlet, but you all aren’t invited because it gets crowded already!
