The following is from the Concord Police Department:
Early this morning, a CPD Officer, working the graveyard shift, tried to make a traffic stop on a car for a vehicle code violation in the Southern District. The driver did not stop and a short pursuit ensued. Ultimately, the driver of the car stopped. During the stop the officer located a loaded gun in the car. The driver was arrested possession of the firearm and the passenger had several outstanding warrants. 📃
Last week, another CPD Officer, working the graveyard shift, made a traffic stop on a vehicle and upon contacting the driver, saw he had an open container of alcohol in plain view. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a loaded firearm was located concealed in a backpack in the back of the car.
.
Ghost gun? Parolee in possession? It is acknowledged that the firearms were loaded and improperly stowed during transport.
.
Simple possession of a firearm does not mean its possession or ownership was illegal. The article is lacking pertinent details.
.
CPD released this statement and there’s no mention of either weapon being a so-called “ghost gun”. That term is nothing but made-up leftist garbage and guns are either serialized or they ain’t. If the driver was arrested for possessing a gun, then logic would indicate it was illegal for them to possess one.
We need to be less critical of the information being released and more thankful of what all police departments across the nation are dealing with every day.

The article/report by CPD is lacking details.

Contrary to your point, ghost guns are real… there are plenty of “homemade” receivers using CNC machines plus custom tooling. It’s easy to buy peripheral parts like barrels, stocks, magazines, etc.
.
Assemble… and go
California has an unconstitutional permitting scheme, and until recently it’s been hard to get one here (they are processing them, but very slowly–so maybe it’s still not easy).
For those that don’t have a carry permit, a gun in a car has to be unloaded, locked in the trunk, or locked in a secure container so that it otherwise is not immediately accessible. Of course the criminals just ignore these laws–guy will be back on the street with another gun and no time.
Though, I’m not sure if I trust officers to not find an unloaded gun and magazine in the trunk, and pop it in the gun to call it loaded, so they can land more charges–I wouldn’t put it past them.
It’s unbelievable how stupid people are..well I take that back, there are many stupid people out there
I couldn’t agree more! I’m smart enough to leave my guns at home when I’m driving around drunk.
Great job officer.
Clearly guns are the problem! More need to be arrested and kept off the street
So true, you see guns walking around all over the place each and everyday! Too bad if they were inanimate objects and couldn’t move around we would all be so much safer. Sweep them all up so we could go back to the ages old standby murder weapons and we can keep killing each other in the same numbers but with old fashioned weapons!
DA Becton will probably given him the gun back for illegal stop and search of POC.
Thats why stop and frisk would keep everyone safer. The police know who to stop.
“Stop and frisk” is a pretty clear violation of our natural right reinforced by the 4th amendment.
““Stop and frisk” is a pretty clear violation of our natural right reinforced by the 4th amendment.”
So are DUI checkpoints, as determined by SCOTUS. However, in the same decision SCOTUS reasoned that the relatively minor 4th amendment violation is outweighed by the benefit to public safety.
.
The courts have ruled that DUI checkpoints are Constitutional IF, among other things, the responsible agency provides a public notice of such checkpoint.
.
The California Supreme Court has held that DUI checkpoints are “administrative inspections,” like airport screenings. As such, they are an exception to the Fourth Amendment rule that an officer must have probable cause or reasonable suspicion to initiate a DUI investigation.
.
You must show your drivers license, registration, and insurance, but you need not answer any questions. You dont have to roll your window all the way down… only enough to communicate with the officer. However, that does lower the bar for the officer to establish probable cause.
.
California Vehicle Code 2814.2 prohibits the immediate impoundment of a vehicle at a sobriety checkpoint if the driver’s only offense is driving without a valid license.
Why are all these people with warrants for their arrests running around among the good public?
Seems every crime that happens, it’s by a person out running around who has warrants for arrest on them. Damn it lock them up!
That appears to be a Glock 17 with a polished slide. As well as a cheap weapon light. Nothing illegal about it when lawfully acquired.
Good job LE … now Becton – do yours and stop the revolving door !
Great job Concord PD! Please keep up the great work, citizens really appreciate you.
As for those bad guys, they were probably home in time for dinner.
Speaking of getting guns off our streets. A local Concord Boy was arrested in Reno a few months back. Had a shot out with Police. His name was Jeremiah Graham. Jeremiahs younger brother was shot and killed by police.
