As we first reported earlier this month, the City of Concord is hosting two community meetings to gather feedback on its Homeless Strategic Plan.
There will be an in-person community meeting on Thursday, May 25 at 6 p.m. at the Willow Pass Community Center (2748 E. Olivera Rd.) and a virtual community meeting held on Wednesday, May 31 at 6 p.m. The May 31 meeting will offer Spanish translation.
The goal of these meetings is to share information on Concord’s unsheltered population, and to listen to your concerns, ideas, and feedback regarding the issue of homelessness in Concord.
The input collected from these events will help identify community goals and priorities that will inform the development of an actionable strategic plan to respond to homelessness in Concord.

Ship them away if they refuse to live in and contribute to society. Easy. Send them to Mexico like they do to us with their undesirables.
Reminds me of the old signs in the wilderness parks, Don’t feed the bears or they will become dependent upon humans
The solution to homeless is simple.
Yet the City Council can’t figure it out.
We need more worthwhile representatives.
WTH do you need to hold meetings for? It’s rather obvious what the problem is and it’s rather obvious how to get rid of the problem, but the biggest problem is the powers of be are too chicken**** to do what needs to be done to get rid of the problem.
Crying pathetic snowflakes refuse to get tough and nasty with these people.
How do you suggest we get rid of the problem? We would all like a solution.
Stop giving them stuff and grind them up into fertilizer.
Well there ya go…need I say more..
Bring on the scoops..
They are contributing absolutely nothing to society…
.
Here is a plan:
.
Gather the homeless, give them free fentanyl, and put em on a BART trains to San Francisco.
.
Done.
.
EASY
Repeal Prop 47 and let Prop 36 work. Prop 36 is mandatory drug treatment for offenders. The homeless population would drop by 90%.
You can’t keep voting democrat and expect things to get better. Wake up people
lower prices and taxes and stop giving all the money and free stuff to illegals, who are taking over the country and turning it to
total s**t!
“Build it and they will come.”
What, no focus group?
History has shown cities becomes what their elected officials want them to become.
You want the root cause? There it is.
Keep throwing money at it and making the problem worse. They get what they need to live the life they chose. We need to cut off any services unless they accept treatment. If they don’t accept that they get shipped back to city and state of known last address. Problem slowly goes away then. A lot of these homeless are from other areas that don’t have all the free hand outs. It’s like pouring sugar out in a park, all the ants come to it for the free meal
Bring back the mental facilities and require the homeless to go for a mental health evaluation and treatment. We are spending billions on homeless and it has done nothing but continue to grow.
Biden will spend us all into homelessness all for the benefit of the military industrial complex. Send the homeless to camp out at their homes.
First, make some rules that must be communicated and enforced. No camping. Each camper get’s asked if they need help, if they say no that means they want to live on the streets, inform them they can do that but not in Concord. If a street person is found whacked out on drugs and living on the streets they need to be considered a danger to themselves, detained and placed into treatment. Do not allow activist groups to feed the street people which encourages street living. If people need food they can get it at the food bank.
Mandatory detox. Mental institutions for the rest. I can’t imagine what this meeting is going to be like. Are they inviting the homeless?
.
The homeless will be able to participate using their Obamaphones.
.
Burn the camps. Put them on buses and take them into the desert. Leave them there.
So what percentage of the homeless are “whacked out on drugs” and what percentage are folks just down on their luck?
@CAPTAIN BEBOPS…. I’ll venture a guesstimate, 50% whacked, 25% mental, 25% mental & whacked, they’re all “down on their luck”.
I am guessing most are on drugs or have a mental problem. I lived in an army barracks for three years the homeless can live in one also.
The answer by current research is around 1/3. Now that might vary by area and community. Perhaps Contra Costa has more “whacked out” than other areas?

Round and round and round it goes where it stops nobody knows😜😜😜
It’s simple, just keep giving the homeless all kinds of handouts and watch them keep coming here from who knows where.
First thing I’d ask before giving a vagabond anything is “Where are you from? How long have you been in California & why did you come here?
