Unemployment rates for the Bay Area’s nine counties were below the statewide rate in April, according to data released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.
California’s unemployment rate came in at 4.3 percent in April, up one-tenth of a percent from March. Nationwide, the unemployment rate was 3.4 percent last month.
Regionally, Solano County had the highest rate of unemployment at 4.2 percent. San Mateo County had the lowest rate in the Bay Area at 2.5 percent, despite layoffs in the tech sector.
