More than $5 million will come to Bay Area schools from a nearly $75 million federal grant funded by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
A White House announcement Monday described the act as advancing “the Administration’s efforts to tackle the mental health crisis in our schools.”
Awardees in the Bay Area include the following:
-University of California at Monterey Bay, $1,199,177;
-San Francisco State University, $1,125,088;
-University of the Pacific, $1,082,192;
-Santa Clara County Office of Education, $976,050; and
-Solano County Superintendent of Schools, $818,116.
The federal announcement did not specify how each group would spend the funds, but an announcement Wednesday from Santa Clara County Office of Education said its award would be used “to train, certify and place mental health providers in schools with high needs.”
“Investing in student mental health and well-being is impactful in their academic journey,” said County Superintendent of Schools Mary Ann Dewan. “When youth know they have safe spaces and trusted adults to support them, they are successful learners.”
I would like to know how the awardees were chosen.
How about we use that money to hire some teachers who can actually do the job of teaching not indoctrinating…
Bravo!! About time we get money to fight this horrible woke mind disease infecting young minds in our schools.
University of the Pacific should not receive one penny of public monies.
So they are providing a safe space for those that feel threatened but what are they doing for the mental cases that are doing the threatening. I don’t understand our government. They always seem to work backwards.
They should start with the mental health in the White House and the State Capital.
I don’t get it. They said they will use the money to train and certify mental health providers. Does that mean they will pay for their tuition? If that’s the case, the kids will already have graduated by the time they are trained and certified. Wouldn’t it be wiser to hire professionals that are already trained and certified?
These poor kids today, suffering from mental illness because the schools are confusing them about who they are, and how they fit in a society that was ruined by the baby boomers. Now they cannot understand if they are a boy or a girl, or something else entirely. It’s ironic that the libs think they can fix it with mental health therapists that were trained by a liberal school. They will tell them it’s okay to be confused, and it’s not their fault, it was the baby boomers.
Of course, I am mocking them, but it’s not far from the truth.
I think a lot of this is created for money reasons.All the publicity also creates the problems.To much media now a days.
Aunt B is on the mark…. But I wonder how much will actually be used for the purpose intended – my guess the “administrations” will squander most of it …. Like the billions spent on homeless projects
They will use the money to teach pronouns.
Money down a rat hole.
