.
… ooh. A bucket truck. Likely diesel. Diesels are hard to ignite. I’m guessing a hydraulic leak caused the fire.
.
That’s gonna take bucks to replace.
.
Bummer.

At least it wasn’t an electric powered vehicle, as it would likely still be on fire if it had been.

Good thing the truck caught fire today.

Tomorrow, on top of everything else, the STA day police would be sending out a fine.

Where’s a hydrant when you need one?

I read a news article yesterday about needing to install hydrants alongside freeways and highways due to the extreme difficulty with putting out electric vehicle fires. Electric battery fires are chemical reactions that pretty much burn through to completion regardless of what the fire crew does. The fire department’s job becomes keeping the heat from that chemical reaction from starting more fires in the area or damaging nearby structures which means spraying lots of water in the area for several hours. A fire engine can’t carry that much water and so needs to get hooked up to a hydrant.

The last electric car fire I went to, it took 25,000 gallons of water to put it out. At least that’s what the fire Lieutenant said. I would never buy an electric car.
