The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.
Yesterday, we announced Bed, Bath & Beyond on Crescent Dr. in Pleasant Hill is closing.
QUESTION: What should move into the building once it’s vacated by Bed, Bath & Beyond?
Talk about it….
Probably too far away for me to care and parking was a problem though I had some strategies that worked. Maybe if the economy crashes we could see a return to small neighborhood stores that have what you need. Wouldn’t make Klaus happy though. He wants to know what you buy. 🤣
It should all be demolished for housing. It’s in a good commute location. We need a lot more housing units and a lot less tired, low wage retail.
Gun Range and Bar, with no Bud Light
Because nothing goes together better then guns and drinking
The name of this place would be…Shoot and shot…
No Bud Light? What’s the point of a gun range with no targets?
Olive Garden or marijuana dispensary because any retail business will be crushed by since people order online.
Im gonna go with the ongoing Claycord joke response of Olive Garden!
It would make a great jail for all the criminals the DA will be convicting.
Either that or a mausoleum for all the victims of criminals who are running around unencumbered.
.
Tilted Kilt!!!
.
After shopping at the across the way, Micheal’s craft store, it would be quite grand if a well known, national restaurant chain that serves up unlimited bread sticks, pasta dishes, “olives”, and healthy “garden” salad is replaced there.. Would be nice if it was in Concord, but Pleasant Hill will be the next option.
Don’t even care…
Any retail chain will probably be out of business within a year because so many people use Amazon.
I recommend a discount shoe store or something.
Home Goods is already in Pleasant Hill and there’s already a Ross.
Not much options….

I don’t really care what goes over there.
Maybe a Goodwill would be nice since it’d be in a better location.
The other thrift stores in Pleasant Hill are in a dumpy area with homeless people and druggies.
Because nothing goes together better then guns and drinking
Housing and treatment facility for the ‘unhoused’.
Indoor pickleball courts.
I’m guessing it will become a Spirit Halloween store.
Not sure what will go there. If it’s anything like KMart on Clayton Road or CVS/Staples shopping center Clayton/Treat I don’t have much hope that a new business will be going in. Although Bed Bath and Beyond is in Pleasant Hill not Concord. Should be interesting to see.
An Olive Garden staffed by strippers in the front, shooting range with sketchy corn snake dealer in the back.
This is not the time for retail. However, nice sit-down restaurants are badly needed in the area. Texas Roadhouse would be my pick (although I am right with the OG supporters!) Every other location is packed constantly!
Are Lego stores lucrative? The closest one is in Pleasanton, and seems to be still a good seller, in spite of being absurdly expensive.
Ohh Legoooo!! Yes, please.
And bring Sweet Tomatoes back!!
An assembly line combination abortion center, ballot harvest, and mortuary. You kill ‘em, we chill ‘em. But not before they vote. One stop shopping, Newsom-style.
My Pillow factory outlet.
My ideas to get with the times.
1. A place like Fakebook Marketplace where shoplifters can sell their looted merchandise in person.
2. An injection site
3. A strip club/ marijuana, or any of those places that sell hard drugs, dispensary.
4. A hookah establishment
5. As someone previously stated, a gun/alcohol place.
6. Any establishment that is not for hard working, law abiding citizens. We have to stop being selfish and take in consideration the feelings and way of life of those who don’t want to be part of a productive society.
7. Olive Garden, not, bring back Sweet Tomatoes.
Strouds or Simons Hardware
My Pillow would be a nice fit.
@BOB….My Pillow 2.0 with new “cooling technology” would be better, so says Mike… Don’t forget your Promo code.
It should be a place were shoplifters from other stores have booths to sell their hot items!
APPLEBEE’S !! My friends and I really miss it and almost never have the time to drive all the way to Antioch for their great food!!!
Indoor shooting and archery range.. making room for Olive Garden
A hardware store or Target would be great, because I think they’d get enough business to support the location, but that whole complex hasn’t been able to support large box stores over the years.
How about a upscale old fashioned opium den….raise your hand if you can.
Another Trader Joe’s would be nice… just a thought…
Casino.
