Nope don’t support it at all and if a ban does go to effect I will keep on using my gas powered lawn mower and Ca can stick it in their left ear if they don’t like it.

I agree with your sentiment! But in this upside down criminal system. They will probably throw you in jail for mowing your lawn while every other criminal doing all kinds of bad things are running free. The Liberals Democrat establishment doesn’t like it when people challenge them and they’d have no issue throwing you in jail.

I’d like to see a statewide ban on the uneducated and ignorant. Batteries are one of the planets largest polluters. The dirty mining using children, the pollution in the mining of the metals, and then, the batteries being disposed of in landfills. Oh, don’t forget, we use fossil fuels to charge them.

Maybe it’s time we educated the tree huggers before we ban oxygen too.

Yeah, but the Democrats get to reward their green corporate constituency with a guaranteed captive market of 40 million, all while preening about saving the planet.

If it jacks up your cost of living, too bad. Maybe they’ll create another hand-out for you if you’re nice.

I agree with Commonsenser 100%. Gas powered lawn mowers and gardening tools are far less damaging to the environment than batteries used to power tools or cars. Where does the electricity come from to re-charge all these vehicles. What are we saving here folks?

S April 21, 2023 - 12:15 PM - 12:15 PM

These kind of bill are passed by opportunists who have found a seat in the assembly and want to look like they are doing something to the brain damaged public. It’s not for preventing any “global warming” but to keep their cushy seat in the assembly. To ban these devices is impractical as well as one dimensional. Given all things considered, in the future there may not be enough need for these devices to cause any harm.

Not at all. Also I don’t think we should phrase out gas powered car either.

Nope, I do not support. And FYI, anyone thinking they can go to a neighboring State to buy one…..they require an ID – will not sell to you with a California ID.

Since when do they require an ID to buy a gas powered tool in another state? I bought one while travelling … no questions asked except how I was paying for it.

Anon April 21, 2023 - 2:32 PM - 2:32 PM

This happened to a friend in Northern California who was trying to purchase a generator in Nevada. They will not sell to Californians.

FYI, the topic came up when I mentioned that you can no longer purchase Harbor Freight’s 3.5 hp gasoline engines in California. I’m glad I held on to my old Briggs & Strattons.

Funny how these items and incandescent light bulbs all became “controlled items” in California.

Too bad they won’t control all of the Platinum purchases.

No ID is required when you are paying with cash.

What happened to “The Land Of The Free?” Are we really getting upset about lawn mowers and leaf blowers? When are these politicians going to focus on more important issues? Education. Homelessness. Our complete transportation system. They talk about the smog and how bad cars are yet they don’t do a single thing to alleviate traffic. All of these politicians want to make a name for themselves no matter how stupid the laws they create are. You can’t fix stupid.

They don’t have to listen to you anymore. They have a supermajority and a political machine that runs the state. They are going to implement their dream and they don’t care what you think.

Ban all ICE engines, including cars. Ban gas stoves. Mandate expensive unreliable solar on everything, driving up costs of energy and construction. The central bank digital currency is coming, and they will attempt to ban cash. No more black market if they can monitor every single transaction. Once that’s in place, a VAT tax is easy, etc.

The speed with which the powers around the world are rushing to control their citizens is astounding. California will get it first, then they will move to impose it federally.

I’d like to see blowers go away. They just blow the leaves and dirt somewhere else like on to passing cars that have just been washed for $25.00! They are just noise.

19

Captain Bebops April 21, 2023 - 4:59 PM - 4:59 PM

It depends. Many gardeners can skillfully make leaves blow into a particular place or tarp where they can be gathered. I blow leaves using my electric blower often into a waste basket then dump it into the compost bin.

Captain your courtesy is appreciated however most people who use blowers aren’t as respectful of others.

Don’t scream when your gardener’s rats double/triple. Someone who does a lot of mowing/trimming/blowing every day is going to need another pickup truck to hold all the batteries.

Rats?

CountryGal April 21, 2023 - 1:05 PM - 1:05 PM

Anyone who says they don’t want these noisy and annoying tools banned is simply lying.
People can’t even enjoy the nice weather and peacefulness of the day without these things being constantly used on an hourly and daily basis.
The only reason I think they should be banned is because they completely disturb the peace and quiet.
And I’m not a liberal.

When my neighbor mows, weedeats, and blows with electric equipment it still disturbs the sound of silence. Lawns in the west are a product of this country expanding from the east, east of the 100th meridian, where irrigation is not required to grow lawns. Perhaps a better solution is to reduce the installation of irrigation and turf grasses.

In that case they better outlaw rap music. If a leaf blower could scream obscenities about n****** and b****** it would still sound better………

In the same way all legislation has certain requirements to show author’s names and such, I think a new rule should be for any “green” legislation, the impact as a percent of Chinese pollution should be provided. I’d bet eliminating lawn mowers and such in California would not even be in the ten thousandths of one percent of what China churns out, so stop the lies. If they want to ban them because of the noise, that’s a maybe from me, but environmentalists should quit lying about the pollution impact.

AB 1346: “This bill would require the state board…to adopt…regulations to prohibit engine exhaust and evaporative emissions from new small off-road engines, as defined by the state board.

So it’s not about reducing air-borne particulates or noise reduction, fyi.

No.. another stupid political stunt by Newsom and his clan…. battery blower is about as loud as gas – I know…. I’ll be buying a new gas generator by the end of the year – you know when the power goes out and the grid can’t handle all his stupid initiatives…..

No. I am tired of these extreme idiot climate change gullibles making up rules against (yes, against) all of us, just because some ineffective former Vice President figured out a way in 2001 to enrich himself beyond belief by showing a picture of a polar bear on an ice floe and convincing the dim that this bear was starving. I would like to tell all these people to …..

Amateur Teacher April 21, 2023 - 3:34 PM - 3:34 PM

No. This idea is the EXACT microcosm of the truth of progressive policies:

Their claim: “we want to help the environment so let’s ban gas powered garden equipment”

Their reality: “a bunch of uppity white people in upper class neighborhoods are annoyed at hearing their migrant worker gardeners buzzing around on weekend mornings”

They have tried every way to get this done from noise pollution to homeowners rules. They end up not working. It wasn’t until they claimed it was climate change that it worked. The climate changed folk also like it bc they can’t get ANY traction with regulations elsewhere. Why can they get traction here? Migrant workers aren’t voting. Wealthy democrats hate their gardeners so much. They think SO little of them that they do not care that their businesses will be completely imploded by this policy. They do not care that they will be bought/run out by landscape corporations run by rich white people that have the overhead to afford this. They allege to be the party of the people but if those people make their morning latte too noisy they will burn them to the ground. EVERY single person that supports this measure is either dumb or TREMENDOUSLY hateful toward minorities. Especially poor minorities.

I have corded electrical lawn power tools because it was always impossible for me to pull a starter cord fast enough. Plus, I have a tiny lawn.

I grew up back east on a roughly 2 acre plot of land and I used to laugh myself sick over TV commercials for electric motors, because in my town you’d need to string at least 3 extension cords together to mow your lawn with an electric mower. And the battery operated ones would not be able to do everything in one charge.

I would like to say I support it but can’t. Not all locations have outside electrical outlets. Those that do may not mind paying the gardener for doing the work but not pay for the electricity to do it. Those that do their own work may prefer the gas versions. As with anything re gas vs electric, no win.

I’m working on a plan to do a statewide ban on Newscum.
He will undoubtedly self destruct in his own…but he’ll destroy the state completely beforehand.
I’m still dumbfounded how so many stupid voters didn’t recall him when having the chance.

Gavin was cheated in, again. As the nephew of Pelosi, he has access all the grift skills. I don’t believe he had the votes either. Not one word of favor from our democratic voters. Just as in Biden, they are ashamed.
