On Thursday at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers responded to Kirker Pass Road and Nortonville Road for the report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision.
Officers arrived on scene, and located a deceased male in the roadway. The driver of the responsible vehicle remained on scene after the collision took place, and was later taken into custody for DUI.
Members of the Pittsburg Police Traffic Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
No further details are being provided at this time.
RIP to the deceased. A DUI that didn’t flee the scene.
Isn’t that intersection one that has had multiple fatalities?
I looked on google maps. Nothing around that area, seems it would be very dark at 1:15am. Strange.
Pedestrian at 1:15am on Kirker Pass? …. was the pedestrian under the influence?
I was driving north on Kirker Pass at about 6:20 am and the southbound was still closed. Traffic was backed up to Leland Rd on Railroad Ave. Anyone who got turned around were going west on Leland to get to Bailey Rd. What a mess.
Partly pedestrians fault. Only an idiot would be walking on that road. I have friends that live up on that hill at that intersection. We used to shoot guns on his property as a kid.
It will be interesting if we ever get the facts on how this happened. That is a strange place to be walking at that time of the night. Easy to speed going downhill. Who knows?
I have been driving over Kirker Pass Rd from Concord to Pittsburg for several years. I have seen people walking at 4:30 in the morning. For as dark as it is I don’t know why a sane person would do that. I am sure drugs or alcohol has to do something with it.
A DUI is a DUI. But was the “pedestrian” on the roadway?
.
This detail is important because the media regularly uses the term “pedestrian” on freeways where they are clearly not allowed.

RIP the poor person who died.
If you’re gonna walk at night or twilight, you NEED to wear retroreflective clothing or carry a lit flashlight illuminating your feet. Anything less is a deathwish.
What’s up with baby carriages being black or grey and having no illumination or retroreflectors? It blows my mind. They should be high vis colors at the very least.
