A man died after his vehicle crashed on westbound state Highway 4 near Bay Point late Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 11:21 p.m. on westbound Highway 4 near Bailey Road involving a blue GMC Envoy that hit the center divider, then continued and hit a light pole and tree along the right shoulder of the highway, CHP officials said.
The man, whose name is not yet being released by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office, was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP investigators determined the GMC was speeding prior to the crash and the man was not wearing his seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the CHP’s Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980.
