Smash & Grab at Sunvalley Mall.
Here’s a description of what happened from a witness on scene.
“There was just a smash and grab robery at Andrews Jewlers at Sunvalley Mall. Approximately 4-5 young males wearing all black and masks. There was a loud boom that sounded like a sign falling over and when i looked up there was the young males with sledge hammers breaking the cases and running out of the store.”
Yawn, . . . .
Another day in CoCo county and California where criminals- are on our streets and not incarcerated.
.
If there is no threat of incarceration,
there is no deterrence to criminal behavior
Is it Black Friday?
Unless you’re in the business, you have No clue what’s going on out there.
As someone that works in the mall, I know there is theft all the time, most petty things, often small stuff, fashion jewelry that someone can easily slip in a pocket or shopping bag, however there’s also a lot of people passing through the mall, especially on weekends, certainly in my place of work most of our customers are honest. It is infuriating when someone steals stuff almost in front of you, but majority is honest. I don’t go out in the mall much, probably not even once a week, might go and get some food or a snack, love Trutti Fruitty yoghurt. When I do I feel pretty safe, but also try to be aware of my surroundings. To Sam we get plenty of grandmothers that shop alone. I’m not down playing the crimes that take place, especially the smash and grab with hammerrs, that is horrendeous, and seeing that jewelry stores are targeted, I would not want to work in one.
Sunvalley has been on a downward spiral for decades and will suffer the fate
of Hilltop Mall soon. As soon as Sears pulls out, the end happens quickly.
The only thing that could possibly save it is having Concord PD put a station
in there (a la Eastmont Mall in Oakland).
Not the first time, won’t be the last.
.
Aw shucks. DA Becton would just chalk it up to “restorative justice”.
.
Diana Becton is cheering from the sideline. THIS is all part of the plan. Comply, Obey, and Submit. Reparations…
Enough is enough. Brian (the owner) and his family (who work there also) are great folks. He extends credit to people for purchases and doesn’t tack on intrest that would sink you. We’ve been purchasing jewelry there for years. We even stop by to say hello and talk with them when we go out to eat at BJ’s. I agree with Original G.
We need to get a DA (and have the lame assed liberal Californias, gain the intestinal fortitude) to face this stuff, prosocute to the fullest, and stop pandering to the lame “WOKE” atitude that the mainstream media has been pandering to.
Otherwise, we’ll just become another “wanna be” Portland. How’s that working out for them?
It is terrible this happened to your friend’s business. What is happening at Sun Valley Mall and many other retailers and citizens in the community is criminal. We can see the results of lessor charges for criminals.
Last year I helped campaign for Mary Knox for DA. Mary is an experienced Deputy DA. Unfortunately, Diana Becton was re-elected. Becton received large campaign donations from George Soros organization called the California Justice and Public Safety committee. If you look into Soros’s background and his ties to groups you will find that he intends to undermine our government and country. Justice is supposed to be blind!
Many people are not interested or care unless something happens to them. Some people I spoke to thought Becton was doing a good job! Becton term lasts until 2026.
I suggest citizens get more involved and educate themselves about who they vote for because the choice we make affects all of us.
As long as it is legal for Soros to contribute millions of dollars to local elections, it is almost impossible to fight back. Soros knows pretty much exactly how much it costs to win any election in any county that he chooses to own.
Like the Koch brothers?
Even Newsweek thinks George Soros is wrong, and that must have taken some real doing. “To refuse to prosecute whole classes of crimes because they are disproportionately committed by people of one skin color or another. Yet that’s exactly what Soros-backed prosecutors do”. Oops.
Honestly how can anyone say Becton is doing a good job? She’s not at all…dumb people make dumb decisions
If you don’t have cash to buy jewelry, you have no business borrowing money to do so. Before spending a penny on shiny artifacts, you need to set aside an emergency fund, max out any IRAs and 401k/403b/457 plans offered to you, and save 10% of your income in a taxable investment portfolio. If the economics work out, you may also consider buying a used house. If you have young kids, max out a 529 next.
Then, and only then, should you consider spending on things like jewelry, designer clothes or luxury cars.
Whether you are investing qualified or non-qualified assets, never invest in anything with ESG management. If you do, you will always underperform the broad market. It’s irrefutable.
The goal of investing is to outpace taxes and inflation. In a Biden world that’s become much more difficult to achieve.
One word: Fundamentals. Pick funds that are managed by investment professionals, not political delusionals, and ever time the performance drops below the 200 day moving average, invest additional funds.
I agree. However, what does that have to do with theft from the aforementioned jewelry store???
Isn’t this just early reparations?
Being a lifetime criminal is now an approved career supported, enabled and approved by the California democrat politicians and their supporters.
What good is the security? Just keep riding around on scooters doing nothing.
It’s a good thing those scooters aren’t sportin’ 24 inch rims or they’d disappear also.
CHP Helicopter circling the area of treat and Bancroft
Wonder if it’s connected?
That area has become more popular with criminals. And it’s not for the bagels. They’re looking to mug people coming out of CVS with prescriptions. Fortunately it appears WCPD has ramped up their presence.
And this is why I refuse to shop at Sun Valley Mall any more.
We now live in East Oakland. Good job CoCo County! Glad our tax money is being put to good use ruing our cities.
@Juryisout: wow, just wow. Take a moment and noodle out what Bendavis801 means.
Raise your hands if you’re surprised ….. ok – hands? no hands ……. another example of why I won’t go to SVM anymore….
Innocent people, good people and their families are being hurt and robbed everyday .What are the liberal democrat leaders doing to protect us and where is the justice for the law-abiding citizen? Democrats don’t care about children or families. They only care about pushing their failed sick ideology and we are just collateral damage. It is going to take many more victims of crime and death before the simple thinking democrat voters in this state snap out of the trance they are in and stop following like blind sheep .Or do what millions of law-abiding citizens are doing every year, buy a gun and protect your family yourself. We have no other choice.
Unfortunately people will likely not wake up until and unless something happens to them personally. It is difficult to believe that so many people are actually willing to kid themselves that everything is going just fine. I don’t get how that is even possible.
You would think if you saw ninjas walking into the mall with sledgehammers you would call the police.
Yeah. We need to stop blaming our DA for law enforcement’s petulant laziness.
When the fruits of one’s labors amount to watching the criminals you’ve arrested continually released by a bought and paid for DA, incentive melts away.
An evening with Wild Man Fischer
Anyone blaming the DA letting the criminals out on the police is just DUMB
It’s getting so bad there, McDonald’s has even closed shop. Sears is getting ready to close (just look at their inventory), JC Penneys is a joke, and Macys isn’t what it used to be. Every store owner in that mall should let their leases run out and get out of there. Give it to the homeless and the thugs, and let them at each other with their drugs, guns and hammers.
Macy’s might not be what they used to be, but we are still busy. Sears and Penny’s problem is they have not kept up with the times, in terms of their inventory, and I never hear them advertise. Macy’s advertise, on the radio, TV on the internet. We have different loyalty programs that reward regular customers, even if someone does not have a Macy’s card.
I haven’t been to SVM since that plane landed on my head
