This photo came from a Claycordian named Chuck Reeves.
Chuck also wrote the following message….
Some time ago I sent you some old pictures of the A&W on Market Street in Concord. Ray & Lucy Zodrow (My brother & sister in laws) co-owners of the drive-in on Clayton Road found a couple of old Polaroid pictures. They are sort of faded but perhaps you can use them. People who used to patronize the A&W there will remember Ray & Lucy as they operated that store.
Chuck owned the Market Street A&W.
The top photo came from Chuck, and shows what the building used to look like when it was an A&W. The bottom photo is from Google Maps, and shows how it looks now, as the Hunan Chinese Restaurant.

Great memories…THANK YOU
Right next to the miniature golf course that ain’t there anymore!………someone get me a time machine!!
We loved going there after playing miniature golf. Great times.
Mini golfed at the location all the time as a child, was a favorite for birthdays! Always got Rootbeer Floats after! Great times and great memories!,
Never did get past that danged windmill
… love it – keep the pics coming!
Spent many a times at that A&w and the miniature golf course back in the 70s and ’80s.
Damn.
Now I want a Root Beer Float and a Papaburger.
Used to ride our bikes down Matheson in the summer, stop at T.G.&Y. to buy some candy and baseball cards, ride over to Thrifty to get some ice cream (five cents a scoop!), cross quiet Clayton Road over to the miniature golf course to play some pinball and arcade games, then stop at A&W for a Teen Burger and cold root beer in a glass mug. What simple, innocent fun we had, back in the 70s!!!
Place has damn good Chinese food BTW.
