any tool that can help protect the police while protecting the law I am good with. If that creates overconfidence and abuse well we need to put a thumb on that quickly. I believe the majority of our law enforcement are just so any tool that helps regardless if it hurts feelings they should have. Police are civil servants “bless them”, they are there to protect us from danger so if they get out of control we the people have the right to correct the action. We should not forget the people that protect us no our power to regulate it. just my opinion.

Given the current state of Concord. This is a great idea. I hope flamethrowers are a big part of this.

Dont bring a knife to a gun fight.

The police should be equipped with mil-spec equipment in order to enforce law and order, and protect the public health, safety, and welfare.

Of course we should accept this equipment!
I find it so ironic that when President Obama was in office he banned police departments from accepting old military equipment, yet it was that exact equipment that saved most the patrons from the shooting of that gay nightclub in Florida.
We sure gotten stupid in our thinking. We have no problem with criminals having all kinds of weapons but we don’t like the police to have good weapons

We probably need it to deal with the BLM and antifa.

Hard to believe that on national television Joe Biden claimed Antifa was simply an idea. But as we all know, Joe Biden has never been on a first name basis with the truth.

China Joe Biden would and will do anything to financially enrich himself, and to(attempt to) promote his political position.

San Quentin is no longer a prison: It’s now The San Quentin Rehabilitation Center.
These are not Military Vehicles: These are “Gender Neutral Rehabilitation Support Escort Vehicles.”

Concord police needs tools to keep them safe!

12

What we need is a District Attorney that will prosecute criminals, not set them free. Who voted for Becton? Our community is NOT safer. Any concerned citizens care to step up and admit their mistake? I thought not, in advance.

Simply “Yes”.

… need more license plate readers and gun spotters too

The police are beginning to resemble an occupying army… and people are cheering?

Are hummvees and kevlar helmets going to cut down on crack and catalytic converter theft?

How about having DAs that will prosecute criminals? How about having laws that would allow lawful citizens to carry and actually protect their lives and property?

Yoyohop, you are correct, once again.

Any citizen who wants this military equipment in the hands of the Concord PD, has no idea that doing so is not in their best interest. This is merely another step in the direction of a Police State.

Wake UP!

The idea of the military ridding itself of old or no longer needed equipment onto cities came up years ago. Cities were happy to accept the MRAPs and other heavy equipment until they realized those things break down — a lot — and are very expensive to maintain. I don’t know what sort of equipment is being offered to the Concord police, but our roads sure don’t need more really heavy vehicles chewing them up, and I doubt taxpayers really want to be repairing stuff the military is trying to dump on them. “In some extreme cases, acquiring what looks like a free piece of heavy-duty equipment has ended up costing a town and its residents upwards of $2 million dollars.” (https://www.strongtowns.org/journal/2020/8/2/the-high-cost-of-free-mraps)

It appears the Biden administration abandoned all the good stuff in Afghanistan. America last.

Don’t give them a penny more until they’re processing and approving CCW permits.

We do not need the police to be an occupying civilian army and the constitution is intended to actively discourage this. Military grade equipment is not needed to ensure public safety. The police are not going to patrol the city with armored vans and military weapons on a day to day basis in a manner that prevents crime, nor should anyone in a free society want them to do so. The idea weapons used in war being in Concord will prevent crime is ridiculous – police respond after a crime is committed, they are not security guards standing around protecting private property or acting as personal body guards.

When was the last time Concord PD needed an armored van? (Which, by the way, they are currently paying for a new one, not a used one from the military.) Is it going to prevent crimes by and against homeless people or prevent car break ins, shoplifting, domestic violence, robbery, sexual assault? Rioting, looting, and violent crime seem to be pretty well under control here in Concord with current equipment. Military grade weapons aren’t going to help the police show up faster or happen to be in the right place at the right time. We don’t want to start normalizing excessive force by the public or by police. Police can’t just use excessive force like that anyway as it is a violation of Sixth Amendment rights to fair and public trials.

Get real – civilian police armed with military equipment are much more likely to be used to take away your legal guns when whichever uni-party “side” decides they need to do away with your Second Amendment rights or to intimidate the public into silencing the First Amendment right to free speech or to keep people in lockdown if the government declares an unreasonable state of emergency.

Hope, you are completely right in your assessment.

The average citizen who is happy about the City PD possibly obtaining this equipment doesn’t realize that they are doing so at their own peril.

Welcoming in a Police State is not wise!

Wake UP, Claycordians!

CCW permits for all. You know criminals are carrying. They love soft targets and unarmed victims.

Back the Blue.

Wow, the Police can’t be bothered with carjackings, flash mobs etc.
But you can be guaranteed this Military vehicle will be used to enforce the Next Coming Lockdowns.

FACTS.

I hope Concord PD gets N.V.G’s for the officers, and some for the departments drone. Furthermore; it is nice to see upgrades and better kits for Concords finest, Concord I believe the department already has a APC which is really cool. I would love to ride in that thing and take it to a car wash then get something to eat at wholefoods . 🙂 just saying it looks like a lot of fun. Guess I should go to the police training camp. hmmmmm
