PG&E crews are in the process of stringing new power lines in Concord across Treat Blvd., between Oak Grove and San Simeon Drive in both directions.
They have closed a lane of traffic in each direction to replace two utility poles and run wires.
They will likely need to stop traffic to perform this task, and this activity may impact the evening commute.
Take Ygnacio Valley Rd. or Monument Blvd. as a detour.
What happened to all of their undergrounding that was supposed to take place?
More promises?
.
No. Perhaps there are many who misunderstood the undergrounding plan.
.
Power lines in designated fire-prone or areas susceptible to wildfires would be undergrounded.
.
And Ygnacio Valley Road doesn’t that criterion.
Don’t worry, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District will soon decide that 1% of the emissions in the air come from telephone/power poles and so will create a decree that all utilities must be underground by 2024. It will only cost us a few hundred trillion but that’s not the BAAQM’s problem.
