An 18-year-old Oakley man is in custody in the connection with the March 11 shooting and carjacking on James Donlon Blvd. in Antioch, and another shooting in Oakley.

One person was shot, and was listed in stable condition.

The following information is from the Antioch Police Department:

Detective Gragg and the other members of the Antioch Police Department’s Violent Crime
Investigation’s Unit worked tirelessly on this case and through investigation learned the
suspect was also the suspect in a shooting investigation in Oakley. The Antioch Police
Department and Oakley Police Department worked in collaboration to identify the suspect
and take him into custody.

On March 15, 2023, at approximately 5:00 am, the Antioch Police Department’s
Investigation’s Bureau and SWAT team, with the assistance of the Oakley Police
Department served a search and arrest warrant in the 1200 block of Quail Valley Run in
Oakley, related to this case.

The suspect, Jacari McKinney (18-year-old, Oakley resident), was taken into custody and
booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for carjacking and assault with a deadly
weapon for our investigation. The members of the Antioch Police Department want to
thank the Oakley Police Department for their assistance in this operation. We would also
like to thank the residents on Quail Valley Run (Oakley) for their patience and assistance
while this warrant was executed.

Through this investigation, Detective Gragg worked with the Brentwood Police
Department, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, and Contra Costa County Probation
as well. The members of the Antioch Police Department want to recognize these agencies
for their assistance.

Excellent job APD.
.
Next, profound disappointment begins, reduced charges, plea bargain to save cost of a trial and back on our streets in short order. Perhaps with a participation trophy so his feelings aren’t hurt.
Why not send a clear and concise message to citizens of CoCo county, rip out front doors of Jail and replace with revolving doors.

If there is no threat of incarceration,
there is no deterrence to criminal behavior

This is the reason I will not serve on a jury, our Judicial system is broken and it’s just a waste of time to sit there when they will be out on the streets before the ink is dry.

Guess what………………..Jacari does not show up as an inmate at county jail, he must be out already, as of 3/16/23.
