Pick One:
.
A) Refried
B) Whole
C) Yuck

I would have to say whole, making the assumption that you are asking about beans, and whole beans refer to coffee.

@S
B) – Whole

@S ~
B) Whole Beans

B) Whole beans.

Depends on what it’s being served in or with. Burritos usually whole beans. Chip dip: refried.

“B” as well,
but gotta admit mashin’ ’em up is pretty tasty too.

I like it half & half, especially in my red beans & rice.

Cowellian’s First.
And Happy Daylight Saving Time Weekend!

Is anyone noticed how the 99 cent store is really charging a lot more? We all know the dollar store went up to $1.25 but that’s it. The 99 cent store has a lot of unmarked items that are $1.99 2,99 $3.99 and even $4.99. I understand price is going up but it’s real gamble when you pick up things off the shelf there now. Several of the items I bought were higher than Safeway! Buyer beware!

11

Motel 6 used to charge six dollars a night – hence the name.
Not any more.

@ANCIENT MARINER
…..and Tom Bodett would leave the light on for you.

Cat V8 m-tore ! 😼

I did notice that when l went there a few weeks ago. They always had certain items that were marked $3.99 usually paper towels and toilet paper. I still saved money, and most items were marked. I was surprised when l got home and looked at my receipt at saw l paid $6.49 for a dozen eggs, l believe eggs were 7.99 at Safeway, but Grocery Outlet and Trader Joe’s is about the same or a little less. I still saved at 99cents only.

When Dollar Tree started carrying the “plus” items they had Red Barron Pizza for a good price. The cashier was commenting on how that a better price than at the store. Well Red Barron was smart enough not to tick off the market chains so when I went to the supermarket the price was the same there.

I get eggs at Nob Hill where I get “rewards” include a free carton of eggs. I notice some companies are doing a good job of keeping prices down while other gouge. I’ll remember.

At times different stores buy one, get one free. Often it is strawberries, since I’m only one person, the second one would go bad before I could eat it. Raspberries works because it is a smaller containter. I got butter at 3.99 at Trader Joe’s the other day, 4 sticks, that is an even better price than Grocery Outlet.

Safeway is now charging $.34 APIECE for bananas, instead of the $.89/lb. previously. Following in the footsteps of Trader Joe’s, charging per banana.

Careful when ordering groceries from Whole Foods. Order zucchini and you get shrink wrapped cucumbers. I try to be open minded but a homemade pizza with cucumbers just doesn’t get it.

I like these types of questions, like @S asking about refried or whole…

How many of the US states have you visited/been through? I enjoy reading, so listing is cool

I myself have visited/been through about 20 states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia. Also been to DC.

I lived 2 years in Connecticut, 4 years in New York City, a year and a half in New Orleans and 5 months in Milwaukee, and then San Francisco. I spend a week in Denver, been to Arizona 3-4 times. Florida 5-6 times, Miami, Orlando, Naples and Fort Walton. Been to Mississippi, Alabama, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Illinois, Tennessee, Texas, New Mexico (loved Santa Fe) Oregon and Washington.

I agree, this is fun.
California, Oregon, Washington State, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Virginia, Louisiana, Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Minnesota, Nevada, Illinois.
I think that about does it!

I forgot about Hawaii

Next week we could do countries. Yes, this is much more fun than argueing over politics.

@Jeff
Yeah, I like these questions also. “S” puts out some interesting choices. With regard to yours, everyone on here has me beat by a mile (many miles), as I’ve only been to 10 states. I counted nine and then like “CJRN”, I forgot about Hawaii. I’d love to cruise to Alaska one day.

I have only been to Oregon,Arizona,,Nevada and Hawaii. I am sitting in Hauula right now with a self made pina colada checkin in on the mainland while my bbq pork is cookin on the grill. I spent the day walking the beach and snorkeling …life is good. 🤗
I be home on Monday 😖

@Lovelace
Sounds totally awesome. Enjoy your last couple of days and have a safe trip home.

@JEFF (THE OTHER ONE)…..Some song I can’t recall says “I’ve been around and touched them all”. It took me two years but I’ve seen them all in most every season with the exception of Alaska, pretty damn close on a Canadian road trip in the 60s.

Well, I’ve never been to heaven
But I’ve been to Oklahoma
Oh, they tell me I was born there
But I really don’t remember

Well I’ve never been to England,
But I kinda like the Beatles….
Haa! Thanks for reminding me of that awesome song!!

@DR. JELLYFINGER….

Thank you…. thank you very much.

I haven’t been to Alaska, at least not yet. I’ve been to all the rest, as well as Guam, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands.

I spend a week in Puerto Rico. When I was an au pair in Westport Ct, my au pair family liked to get away from the cold when the kids were out of school, one year we spend went to Puerto Rico, stayed at a nice resort, spend New Years eve there, the year after that we went to Miami. Nice way to see part of the country, everything paid for and nice resorts, of course I had to babysit, but still had some free time, so felt very lucky.

We pulled into Roosevelt Roads for an overnight stop. I never got off-base, but I did get a couple of drinks at the enlisted club. When we ordered a rum and coke, they poured a glass of rum and waved the coke bottle over it.

Great story, Cowell….
.
25+ years ago, I was pouring drinks for my friend’s parent’s 50th wedding anni…
.
Me: “What’ll ya have?”
Old Guy: “Scotch & water, rocks.”
.
I put ice in the glass, pour the scotch, and go for the water when the guy stops me
Old Guy: “Wait Wait Wait… When the ice melts!”
.
🙂

Apparently, they put formaldehyde in Coke to preserve it when shipping out of the country.

I’ve been to 25 states plus DC. I agree, this is much more fun than politics🙃

Get to Alaska while you can still see the immense awesomeness of the glaciers.

Definitely want to do that.

I’ve driven the length of Interstate 90, 80, 70, 40 and 10. So without listing all the states individually, I’ve visited / driven through all those. Lots of adventures and plenty of fun times!

I’ve been to 25 states plus DC. I agree, this is much more fun than politics🙃

Alaska, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Washington.

I’ve only lived in two states Washington and California. I’ve been through and sometimes stayed for awhile in Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Washington DC, Illinois, Michigan, Colorado, Minnesota, Iowa.

I forgot Nevada, but I guess for most of us that have lived in California for some time it’s granted we have been to Nevada.

17 for me

Washington – Seattle, Ivars for the best calm chowder and fish & chips. I’m a Washington native and there are lots of seafood places but Ivar’s Acres of Clam on Alaska Way is the best

Nevada, I recommend getting out of Reno and heading to Carson City to Cucina Lupo for Italian and then down to Minden to Cook’d for a extremely varied menu that has great food . Oh and for a fabulous breakfast head to The Cracker Box in Carson City. The enchilada Omlette is to die for as if most of the menu. And if you want to sample some unique IPA”s fond the Feisty Goat on Long Street in Carson City or grab an Espresso Martini at the Carson Cigar Bar on Curry St in the Historic area. This little area also has a great art gallery (Artsy Fartsy Gallery) and some cute boutique shops. As I tell people all the time there is more to N Nevada than Reno. So wave good-bye to Reno for a day or 2 and come visit us

I like Carson… never stayed the night, like the thrift and pawn shops…

S
There is a realtively new thrift shop called Classy Second. They support and help house battered women. They built a new bulding on Hwy 50 about 4 years ago. We call this particular thrift shop the “Nordstroms of Thrift Shops” as it really is that nice and doesn’t have that “thrift” smell. The recently built and immediate need shelter adjacent to the thrift store. Across from them is the new Goodwill (about 4 years old as well) and near by are a couple of other shops. On the corner of Carson & Long Streets is FISH. They are currently building interim housing for homeless who are in stage 2 of their program which is going back to school to get better job skills. The construction site is close by on Carson St
My favorite thift shop for finding furniture to repurpose is ” St Vinnie’s of the Mountains” aka St Vincent de Paul on the Reno/Sparks boarder. And if in Sparks check out O’Ski’s Pub. It’s owned by the sister of one of the Goat owners. Also the same Goat owner owns a BBQ place in Winnemucca called the Pig. I guess Lee like farm animals-hahahahaha

Remember a few weeks back Claycord asked I believe it was posed, who we have cell service with? Unfortunately after having Verizon with no issues for years, thought I’d try and save a buck, wrong move, Always had Verizon. Woke up a week ago to no Service. No, the bill was paid. Who was the carrier? Boost/Dish. Fast forward to six days later, only a portion of my phone number I’ve had forever has been ported over, got my new phone today with Verizon Store, data moved over, could call out, then find out if someone calls my phone they only get my voicemail. Didn’t let them try temp numbers, new phone has no sim. Now I’m captive to a losing company after a week and shaky nerves. Hope everyone else’s week has been better..

@ Bella ~
Darn!! That is so Frustrating. Hope you and the service gets it worked out for you soon.
I, myself, have a totally dislike relationship with cell phones.
Only have one if I need to call for assistance out on the road, …911 or tow truck.

So sorry to hear about all of your problems. I’ve been with T-Mobile for many many years and have always been completely satisfied! I go to the one in the Park & Shop and they have a wonderful staff…always available to help me with any issues I have (I’m not that techy) and super friendly and competent!!

I have alwasy had Metro PCS, which now have mergen with T Mobile. Never had an issue. However, I know the frustration when something happens to your phone or internet. In September my cell phone was stolen, of course I got a new phone, but lost many pictures and some phone numbers, I had pictures and video’s of my grandchilidren, some I have in my email, but not all. About the same time I got locked out of my ATT email through no fault of my own, for 30 days, so couldn’t even email my friends. I did get my email back, which I was not so sure about. Now I have a second email, and I will print all my email addresses.

Oh that’s so sad!! Thanks for reminding me to move the phone pics to my computer….have lots and lots of the grandkids! Hope things get resolved soon for you!

” I have been in 57 states. One left to go.”

Lucky you. I have a few states on my bucket list, Utah Idahoe, Wyoming (Grand Teton) and Yellowstone. Some of the real midwestern states, such as Kansas, Ohio etc. Geography was one of my favorite subjects in school and everytime I learned about a City or country I said to myself I want to go there someday. Which were quite ambitious for a little country girl in the fifties. Oh and Washington D.C. I lived on the East Coast for 6 years off and on, and never made it to D.C. Ever since as a teenager I watched JFK’s funeral on TV in Denmark I have wanted to go there.

57? Where have they been hiding the extra 7? 🤣

In Obama’s head. 🙂

3
2

Can There had to be one of you ….🙄

I’m guessing MartinezMike’s post was in reference to when Obama said he had been to 57 states; so when you asked where the extra 7 were, I gave an answer. Sorry you didn’t like it.

Been to only 4 states. But traveled to 41 countries. Nope not military or for jobs, just private travel by ship, yachts or private plane. We never do commercial planes as we don’t like cramped surroundings.
Wouldn’t even consider traveling to most of those countries nowadays.
Still consider America the best place to live, altho Switzerland is close 2nd and spent lots of time there.

Juryisout, time to get an RV and see this country. Always wanted to see every national park. Haven’t made it yet but someday…

Jim Cramer the so called stock guru pushed SVB stock a month ago!
I’ve been telling people the last thing you want to do is turn on CNBC and listen to any of those clowns that are on there pushing certain stocks and businesses especially Jim Cramer.

Jim Cramer is one of the biggest charlatans out there and whatever he is pushing or telling people or advising them to do you want to do exactly the opposite, live and learn people.

Today is the anniversary of my Mothers death, and I can remember her sayings.
“If you don’t eat it, there will be more for those that want it.”
“Beggar’s can’t be choosy.”
“Don’t slouch.”
“It is just a passing fancy.”
“Pinch the pennys and the nickles will take care of themselves.”
“I love you.”

19

I am so sorry for your loss—this is one of deepest losses one can experience. You got me thinking about what my mother used to say, ” No tengo pelos en la lengua.”The literal translation is of course “I don’t have hair on my tongue”. The meaning though is entirely different. It means I am not afraid to speak my mind, or say what is on my mind. I miss hearing what was on her mind…

No book report. Busy getting caught up on DMV reading for license renewal. Yuck!

Oh, whole beans.

If you don’t feel comfortable with using the terminal screen – ask for the paper test

If I may, offer a book report…
The Good War, by Studs Terkel (surprised I’ve not heard of his work before)
A book almost 40 years old now and is a series of interviews/personal accounts of WWII (both state-side and overseas) about 40 years after the war. It’s not all shoot’em up, bang, bang, but interesting human interest stuff.

Good Luck on the Driving Exam, Dorothy!

S: Thank you for the book recommendation !

Rain snow sun repeat. Sighhhhh. Running out of indoor projects. Oh well one good thing is the sink and the rack for it that I ordered for my upcoming remodel is being delivered today, faucet Monday, slab for counters is purchased so now I know what funding I have for my cabinets. Leaning toward oak with a chocolate cherry stain with black pulls

I have noticed that sometimes my thumbs up are worth 2! Are my votes weighted more, Mayor? If so, I appreciate your impression of my worthiness…

Sometimes I appreciate that too! 🙂

The Concord Police and Public Works deserve a huge thank you from the Citizens of Concord for the exemplary work they have done this afternoon.

Trees are down, power lines are down, roads are closed, and these fine people are out in the wind and dust protecting and caring for the good people of Concord.

I’ve heard nothing from the City or City Council. I guess they all went home.

Lake Oroville went up 7 feet since yesterday.
Around 12:01 am inflow was 38,310,649 gallons per minute or 57 Olympic swimming pools per minute.

In a few weeks news is going to be on levee watch.
With all that water washing thru burned out Feather River Canyon, later this summer maybe get a metal detector. Had a chiropractor who moved up near gold country to do hunt gold in his off time, with one.
Anyone tried it ? Any luck ?

OG,
Us folks out here in Tule Land (aka The Delta) worry a bit about how far up the levee the water level gets…. suffice it to say, you are scaring the excrement out of us.

No worries for island folk being cut off ’cause of a little water.
Just hop in the AMC.

Golly! I have an AMC too … but our bridge is OK.
