Caspers Hot Dogs announced today they are closing their Walnut Creek location, located at 1280 Newell Hill Place, effective on Sunday, April 16, 2023.

Caspers Walnut Creek first opened in 1983 and quickly become a staple in the community, attracting locals and visitors alike with its delicious hot dogs, friendly atmosphere and dedicated team members. The family-owned and operated restaurant chain, which has enjoyed nearly 90 years of success in the San Francisco Bay Area, faced a difficult decision to close but in doing so, has strengthened the health and future sustainability of the company.

“We are deeply grateful to our loyal, multi-generational customers who have supported us over the decades,” said Ron Dorian, co-owner and general manager, grandson of founders Ardam and Stephen Beklian. “We appreciate the memories that our customers have made in Walnut Creek and encourage them to find a new favorite Caspers location to continue their traditions and create new ones for generations to come.”

“We also want to express our sincere appreciation to our employees who provided a friendly and dedicated service to make Caspers Walnut Creek a favorite among local residents,” said co-owner and general manager Paul Rustigian, grandson of founders Rose and Paul Agajan.

The Caspers Hot Dogs family will continue to operate their six other East Bay restaurants, including Pleasant Hill, Dublin, Richmond, Oakland/Telegraph and Hayward Foothill and C Street locations and offer Door Dash through their Dublin and Richmond stores.

Loved the Doggie Dinner in El Cerrito. My parents meant there in the 50s, Dad had a fast 56 Chevy. I owe my existence to the D D.

1955-1957 Chevys facilitated a lot of relationships! They still do!
I remember the DD “Big Cheese” Burger and the Hot Pastrami sandwich. They seemed really great at the time. The wrapping had the script “We compete in quality, not price” or something like that.

This means PF Changs in Walnut Creek might be gone too. Walnut Creek Magazine said both of them would be closing in the next few months.

Hard to beat a costco hot dog, and drink, for $1.50.

I’m not surprised about PF Chang closing … they’ve been going downhill for several years….. even their frozen market grocery food has, like they outsourced it to a cheaper competitor – imho
