Contra Costa residents impacted by the series of winter storms in December and January still have time to apply for federal assistance at a new disaster recovery center, county officials said on Friday.
Opening on Sunday at the Richmond Civic Center parking lot, the Federal Emergency Management Agency center will help individuals apply directly for assistance, find housing and receive referrals to agencies that can provide more resources.
The center will operate at the parking lot between 24th and 25th streets in Richmond from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily until March 1. The center will then move to the Community Presbyterian Church at 200 E.Leland Road in Pittsburg until March 4.
Residents seeking assistance from state agencies or the Small Business Administration can visit the recovery center in Danville, located at 510 La Gonda Way. The Danville center operates from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through March 1, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through March 16.
Relief for storms… but no relief for the direct losses and cost of losses due to drought? Just the loss of a couple trees had a tremendous affect on the value of a person’s home and property… but not something that another 50 years of re-growing won’t fix.
Yeah… I’m glad the storms only caused a roof-leak or two… but fixing that will take one day. Not 50 years.
