The Pittsburg City Council on Tuesday night recognized two people for their efforts to save a person who was caught in the water near Central Harbor Park.
The first person who was recognized was Cesar Medrano for his lifesaving efforts on January 6, 2023, when a parkgoer near the shore at Central Harbor Park found themselves caught in the rising water and unable to exit on their own. Cesar was working nearby and heard the cries for help and sprang into action calling the Contra Costa Fire Protection District and providing locational and situational information necessary for their successful arrival. He acted with selflessness, heroism, and professionalism and saved the parkgoer’s life, according to the City of Pittsburg.
The second person recognized was Brandon Carson, who also helped save the same person on January 6, 2023. He sprang into action and entered the water at Central Harbor Park to assist the person in the water. Brandon collaborated with his Marina colleague, Cesar Medrano, to provide support in the water to the parkgoer until the arrival of Contra Costa Fire Protection District crews. Brandon acted with selflessness, heroism, and professionalism and saved the parkgoer’s life, the City of Pittsburg said.
