Do you do anything special for Valentine’s Day, or is it just another day?
Also, if you absolutely had to pick a restaurant to visit on Valentine’s Day and you were guaranteed to get in without waiting, where would you go?
Talk about it….
Use to get one Red Rose every Valentines Day. As for a favorite Restaurant, the last few years we hadn’t gone out much, but when we did for it was usually Original Joe’s Westlake.
I used to go there back when I lived over there…yummy 🙂
No, been married more than half my life. Wife will get the kids some chocolate, and the last couple years we have made the heart shaped ravioli from Costco. My belief/stance is St Valentine’s Day is for those dating. As I was growing (young teen), my dad had always taught me St. Valentine’s Day is mainly for women; I still hold that belief.
While we really enjoy Chopan Kebab, I would try for Jack’s in PH to have a dinner to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day.
Puesto at the Veranda is our go to. THey have such good tacos. A little pricey but well worth it.
Card, flowers, etc … usual goodies…. favorite restaurant closed – Scott’s in downtown WC… they kept the one in Oakland closed but the WC location had huge wedding, retirement, business, birthday celebrations, etc They even had enough take out business during covid to keep them afloat… never really got a good explanation why the owner closed WC but kept Oakland
French Laundry of course
My wife and I were married at Scott’s in WC. Such a bummer it’s gone. That was our spot!
I give box of Sees’ chocolates, a gift card to Victoria’s Secret, and lunch/dinner at Hog Island Oyster Co. at The Oxbow in Napa.
.
… and a bottle of Peju cabernet sauvignon from the wine cellar.
.
Locally, we’d sometimes head to Moresi’s. We enjoyed Buttercup in the back in Concord.
Generally speaking I think Valentine’s Day is a way bigger thing for women than it is for men….But you had better at least appear to put a little effort into it Buster or there might be trouble!
Flowers, chocolates and a dinner out or perhaps one prepared at home usually will suffice…at least it has worked for me.
As a woman, I have never cared about Valentine’s Day. I have always, and will always, find flowers (especially on V Day) an obscene waste of money.
Our anniversary is on Valentines Day and for the last thirty years we have always done something special on this day. Either going out of town to celebrate or staying around town and going to a restaurant. This year we were in town and celebrated at Skates in Berkeley with a beautiful sunset dinner. Our 30th anniversary.
No, my grandchildren are in southern California, send cards. I was however very busy in the handbags department, lots of gentlemen buying handbags or wallets last minute. Since most men don’t know much about handbags, they often ask me for advice on color size etc. I enjoy finding just the right item for my customers.
My electricity bill was over $650 this month. There goes my Valentine’s Day budget. This is with the most efficient furnace, great installation and being very thoughtful about energy consumption! Thanks Gavin Newsom and Joe Biden. I hope you enjoying your taxpayer funded heat!
