The following is from the Pittsburg Police Department:

At 10:20 this morning, Pittsburg Police dispatch received a call from an anonymous male stating he had placed explosives on the Pittsburg High School campus.

The Pittsburg Police Department, in partnership with the Pittsburg Unified School District, have a School Resource Officer on the campus who was able to immediately communicate and coordinate with school staff.

As with any threat, this was taken very seriously.

Resources were immediately dedicated to the investigation and coordination with the school district for student safety.

Officers and school staff initially worked on a safe area for the students to wait while coordinating an extensive search of the campus with specially trained K9’s and officers. However, out an abundance of caution and due to the size of the campus, the school district coordinated an early release schedule for the students.

All students were escorted away from the campus and the school district arranged their release to parents at this location.

This is still a very active investigation and updates will be released when available. The campus is currently cordoned off for safety and all are asked to avoid the area. Anyone with information should contact Detective Salamanca at 925-252-4017

Had cause to go shopping today and when I got to Railroad the traffic was the worse I ever saw in Pittsburg. Cars coming, going, crossing up and down. Kids all over the place. Coming back was easier but still more traffic than normal. Guess some had to wait to be picked up.

Home school bomb threats are on the rise also. They are just never able to catch the responsible parties in the act.

Drove past Fresno today and the news was full of stories about several bomb threats at a HS in Fresno. Caller had caller ID from foreign country.
