UPDATE: BART Service Resuming To San Francisco

BART is restoring train service through downtown Oakland on Friday morning after a maintenance vehicle damaged the tracks overnight.

The transit agency initially issued an alert around 4:30 a.m. about the problem, which prompted BART to briefly shut down its transbay service so crews could make emergency track repairs in an underground section of tracks in Oakland.

As of shortly after 7 a.m., service was resuming on the Yellow line between Antioch and San Francisco International Airport, the Red line between Richmond and SFO, and the Orange line between Berryessa and Richmond.

Green line trains have been canceled and Blue line trains will run from Dublin to Bay Fair and from Daly City to MacArthur, according to BART.

Alameda-Contra Costa Transit buses were helping to take riders between San Francisco and downtown Oakland during the service disruption, BART officials said.

Dear BART,
.
YOU STILL SUCK.

It’s been a hell of week for BART. Just the worst.

.
How did a maintenance vehicle damage the track?
.
Were proper safety and maintenance procedures being followed?
.
Were the personnel conducting the maintenance properly trained?
.
Will an investigation be conducted?
.
Will a report be published and made available for public review on this incident?
.
BART, as a special district, is funded by public monies thru fares, bonds, taxes, and fees, needs to be TRANSPARENT in providing all relevant information and analysis to the BART board and we, the public.
.
What administrative and procedural steps be implemented so these types of incidents will rarely, if ever, happen again?
.
Will those individuals responsible for the damage be held accountable for the severe inconvenience to riders and the region in terms of productivity, fuel consumption, and lost business?
.
What was the economic and environmental impact of the shutdown?
.
WE WANT ANSWERS.
.
Signed,
The Public
