F Street Pedestrian Bridge In Martinez Closed Due To Erosion, Will Be Removed In The Coming Days

The F St. pedestrian bridge that crosses Alhambra Creek one block east of Alhambra Ave. in Martinez is currently closed and expected to be removed as soon as possible due to continued erosion affecting the bridge.

The city is asking the public to avoid this area.

Recent storms have eroded the footing underneath the bridge leaving several utility lines potentially compromised and at-risk should the bridge collapse.

That’s a bummer for folks that use it to cross the creek to get to Safeway.

Lousy infrastructure management, deferred maintenance, we (tax payers) pay to build things, the people running the place let them rot, then we remove them. Disgusting. If we did that where I work, we’d be fired.

One would think the bridge would have been replaced as part of the various “roads n bridges” infrastructure stimulus bills since 2008.
.
WTF?

Tax dollars in California are no longer spent on projects or services that would benefit citizen taxpayers.
