Flooding or near flooding is being reported in several creeks around Contra Costa County, including Galindo Creek in Concord, and the creeks around the City of Clayton (all pictured above).

Also, the Walnut Creek, Grayson Creek and others are all near capacity or flooding.

Use caution when you’re driving. Do not attempt to drive through flooded areas.

At least this clears out all the homeless trash that they inflict upon these areas.

When I was a kid in the late 50s Galindo Creek used to run from where it crosses Detroit Ave, between Toyon and Laguna up to Galindo and bordered Taylor’s Wrecking Yard. I’d pack a lunch and go “exploring” for the afternoon. Had to be careful around the wrecking yard, the junkyard dog was scary as hell. Every once in a while a steelhead or salmon made it up past Detroit. I remember the creek flowing over the bridge on Detroit most every year before the flood control channels were built.
