An American Mink is recovering at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek after being found lethargic and unwell behind the Antioch Police Department (APD) earlier this week.

APD says the Mink is now well enough to be released back into the wild.

The following is from the APD:

Did you know that we have minks living in our nearby Delta waters? The neighboring Corteva Wetlands Preserve is home to an abundance of wild animals and is a stone’s throw from our shelter. There are many sights to see in and around the Antioch Harbor including minks, river otters, seal lions and once upon a time there was a sight to behold of a whale named Humphrey…..bring your binoculars and check it out on a sunny day.

I had no idea minks lived locally here. Shocked actually.

second that

and I thought they were “mountain” animals.

Me too – didn’t know they lived around here.

Awwww…way too cute. Hopes he makes recovery.

Maybe cute but I wouldn’t pet him. Lindsay is a great place

Good thing he wasn’t at the dead fish restaurant.

There were commercial fur farms out here in the delta years ago. Mink are still around, I see them often.
