Clerk-Recorder Certifies Nov.8 Election – Voter Turnout Was 56% In Contra Costa County

Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder-Registrar Debi Cooper certified the results of the November 8, 2022 General Election.

“Our elections team has once again administered an accurate, transparent, safe and secure election for Contra Costa County. This team of expert staff made a very complicated and technical process look easy – it isn’t,” Cooper said. “I am proud of this talented group, who make democracy happen for Contra Costa voters and provide incredible service. This includes: permanent staff, temporary workers, poll workers, and volunteers. I want to thank each of them for their hard work and civic service. It is my honor and privilege to certify my last election as the head of this department.”

The Elections Division conducted the canvass to complete the official count of all qualified ballots and to perform audits to verify the tabulation equipment performed as intended.

The purpose of the canvass accomplishes four primary tasks: ensuring that every eligible ballot is counted, that voters only voted once, that proper procedures were followed, and that the vote tabulation system counted ballots properly.

The final turnout for this Primary Election totaled 394,153 ballots cast, representing 56.15% of the 701,969 registered voters of Contra Costa County.

The final official report for this election is now posted on the Contra Costa County Elections website at www.contracostavote.gov.

Unfortunately, the majority of these people voted to continue the destruction of California. Sad to watch the demise of a once great state and now it is time to leave before it is completely destroyed.

While time and ignorance has rendered the promise of the Constitution, and the Country, into a less than perfect condition, I wonder how can any Citizen with a stake in their Countries survival just ignore their Right to Vote? 66% of the people in CCCo live in their very own ‘owner-occupied’ homes, with yards and streets and neighbors that don’t (generally) take pot-shots at you. We have fresh food and every possible need available within just blocks of our homes. 33% have secure rental homes. 99%have internet service and can see every day what is happening around the world, where the people have only a slight percentage of what we and our children have here.

Just barely over HALF of us voted to protect that?

No, just about half VOTED. Of those who did vote, most voted to NOT protect the Constitution. That’s the problem.

and of those that voted, 90% by mail. I am of the opinion that voting should be in person (except for absentee, where the ballot must be requested in advance).

I exercised my right to vote by not voting. My vote doesnt matter, no point to even waste my time learning the candidates and ballot measures. All taxes are voted for anyways i just bend over and pay them….

That’s one piss poor turnout. It perfectly illustrates the level of apathy in CC County. And this is how people like Newsom and the other socialists stay in office. But remember Socialism is just a pit stop on the way to communism.

Get big money influence out of the process and IMO, you’ll see voting participation increase. Watching big union, big corporation, well funded advocate groups push their message and influence things makes it seem like the little persons vote does not matter. They twist the messages much even the little people voting get pushed in the wrong direction. Example, Vote ‘no’ on measure X or kids will starve!!! where measure X allows a single big corporate vendor to provide overpriced food supplies to the school system. Gross.

Well said. I’ve had multiple conversations where someone told me how they voted on certain bills and they clearly misunderstood the true objective. They either didn’t read them carefully, or were led astray by the verbiage. Sentences carefully structured such as “This bill does not disapprove” and other traditional syntax tricks are designed to mislead people.
Years ago in the investment world, legislation was passed to simplify wording used in investment prospectus. To remove the trick sentences and legal verbiage so investors could make informed decisions. We need something similar requiring the authors of these bills to be very clear and specific as to the bills true objective.
If not, it’s safer to just vote no on every bill, especially in California.

What does Election Day, Cards Cast, Voters Cast line mean. For vote by mail, so they sent out 1.4M and about 400K returned/cast, by why turnout at 51%? Seems voters can cast a vote but why say cards cast? Someone help me out.

There are many Democrats in the California legislature that have wanted to make voting mandatory in the state. In order to not vote you’d be required to turn in a blank ballot.
