City Of Martinez Closes And Cleans Up Homeless Camp, Known As “Camp Hope” At The Waterfront

With the departure of the Homeless Action Coalition in late October from Camp Hope, a homeless camp located at the Waterfront, the City of Martinez quickly organized a project team to oversee the compassionate closure of the site.

The project team included Police, Public Works, case management workers, nonprofits and volunteers. Starting November 2, the team began working with over 20 homeless individuals at the site, and over the last few weeks, was able to successfully place everyone into shelters or assist in connecting them with friends and family.

This process included a notice that was posted at the site advising of a clean-up date of November 28. The site has been restored with no remaining tents or personal items.

The ACLU is cracking down on Phoenix AZ for this. How does a community like Martinez or Concord avoid the scrutiny from the ACLU? Honest question here, does it have anything to do with having a george soros hand picked DA and potentially several other plants in various governmental positions?
I think it’s great they are cleaning the marina. I wish they would do Concord next. There’s camps in every nook and cranny.
We need to get these people out of here. We are the tax payers. The city needs to respect us.

Hit the handle twice, it’s a long way to the sewer farm.

In summer camp(Elphinestone),the sign said”flush twice,it’s a long way to the dining hall”

I find it hard to believe that any of them went to a shelter or anywhere with any rules.
Feel good BS,and no way to prove it.All they did was come to Concord or will be there by tomorrow.,as they everyone knows, Concord is an easy mark.Youll see more tents at the few remaining spots it could possibly be done.Do the people that live in or plan to live in transit villages at Bart realize their properties will have more homeless on or around them than paying owners and renters? They wont build a transit village at Concord Bart and aren’t building shops in the parking lot anymore as once planned. It’s just too filthy and nobody would ever want to live or run a store there.Anything near that CVS or Safeway is not safe.%90 of all property crime in Concord is the homeless. If they arent stealing they are intentionally destroying someone’s property because it’s not fair you have nice things and they don’t.

First of all, why would you even comment on something you obviously no nothing about???
Secondly, for your know (no) it all (nothing) information, there is a new community called “The Grant” ( north and south) right across the street from Concord Bart. It has commercial on the bottom and $2,000- 4,000 monthly apartments with a pool on the roof on the next 6 floors. Parking underneath.
And finally, yes, we did go to Concord shelter and Pittsburgh Delta landing, we have been bumped to the top of the subsidized housing list, not one of us is living in tents anymore, despite the awful way homeless action coalition did us, we still have our dignity.
Personally speaking, you are what is wrong with the whole human race, you are a prejudice , egotistical, ranter.
Your whole comment is wrong, not one of us has theft, (petty or property) , charges . I am gonna share your comment with the rest of us camp hope homeless. We are gathering once a week for a little Bible study, which is tomorrow, and will give a little mention of you in our prayers.
You should find a better, more productive way to spend your boring life, than to be TRYING to belittle others, especially in times of struggle.

Maybe stop druging and get a job. Move to an area that is less expensive. Honestly, I don’t care what you do as long as I don’t have to see you or your blue tarps and garbage. I simply have no compassion for your type anymore. You don’t care about yourselves, you don’t respect others, you don’t want to participate in a positive society. You pride yourselves on being nasty losers who don’t conform…cool move along. You get no love here. What a life, living in filth, sleeping on garbage piles, doing drugs and petty crimes, looking at everyone else trying to be intimidating… Nope, move on.

“Bumped to the top of subsidized housing list”… Let me get it straight – if you’re bumped to the top of subsidized housing list, someone got bumped down? Right?
So what makes you think that you and your “little Bible study group” are more deserving people than those whom you displaced on the housing wait list? And no, your prayers don’t help them. But, as another poster suggested, cleaning up, moving to a cheaper area and getting a job will certainly help.

You don’t get bumped out of the housing list. You find housing. Either through that list or somewhere else and bump yourself out. Or, you stay on the list while staying on someone’s couch.

The irony is not lost that you play sympathetic to others on the list in favor of disparaging the poster, when we all know you’d screw that whole list over.

I couldn’t care less about a list of free loaders looking to use my hard earned tax money that should be fixing my roads and making life Concord something to be proud of. Instead we get a cesspool of grimy drug users and the city let’s the local businesses and homeowners suffer the blight. You people really need to get jobs and quit taking advantage of the rest of us.

@ineffectual
Which planet are you on?
No, you don’t just find subsidized housing “through that list or somewhere else”, waltz in and – poof – magically your rent is all paid.
Before waltzing in, you need an EHV (emergency housing voucher) or an HCV from the Housing Authority. There is a limited number of them, especially EHVs, so there are priorities assigned to applicants. And yes, although homeless are given the highest priority, there are others, who, in my view, should never be bumped down by the junkies from Martinez Marina. Such as women in domestic violence situations or people displaced by disasters.
