Just because we received a few questions about it, we figured we’d post about it.
The Post Office in the Bel-Air shopping center on the corner of Treat Blvd. and Clayton Rd. in Concord has had a few broken windows for several months. The door was also broken, but they fixed it.
The damage was done by a vehicle that hit the front of the building.
It’s unknown when they plan to fix it (if ever). The shopping center was scheduled to get a makeover within the next year or so, but it appears those plans have been abandoned.
It’s almost a ghost town.
RELATED STORY: Bel Air Shopping Center On Treat Blvd. At Clayton Rd. To Get Makeover (plans have since been abandoned)
Wow, suburban blight if I ever saw it.
The center has been rather dead and run down for literally a quarter of a century now!!
Many of the vacant spaces at that center have been vacant since the late 1990s, which of course was during The Clinton Administration!!
If the vehicle was insured, the damage should have been covered.
Where is the City Of Concord and their codes when you need them? They took their blasted time approving our simple remodel plans making us change them 3 times for crazy reasons. Can’t they enforce rules to get this owner to fix what’s broken? I’m sure the owner will get or has gotten insurence $ from this damage. Our neighborhood deserves to NOT be getto!!!
Just moved over here in this area, this plaza needs a renovation
The restaurant on the 4700 block of Clayton Road has had a boarded up front door for well over a year. Not sure why.
There is urban blight all over Concord, yet the same ol same ol when it comes to city council members.
I’ve complained to the City about the Clayton Rd corridor from Treat east to YVR before as well as all of the weed filled vacant blocks downtown to no avail. They don’t care….stores empty, vagrants, etc. They obviously couldn’t care less. It’s time they take some pride in our City!
The shopping center is a ghost town b/c Staples and CVS have the say on parking spaces. If you want to lease a space, you only get three, depending on the square footage. Most businesses need more than that at one time for staff and customers. .
…whatever happens – hope they keep the PO …. just fix it though
The shopping centers in Concord are not very well maintained. When the lose major tenants such as KMart or most of the tenants, such as the BelAir Center then it would appear the property owners don’t care or they don’t have the revenue stream to maintain. These centers sit for years and become eyesores. Concord has had opportunities for Target and other stores to move in but the City Council has not approved those entities.
I remember that Post Office keeping weird hours. I never knew if they’d be open when I got there. Usually, I only went there if I had a yellow notice that we had a package waiting. Otherwise, I preferred the Main Post Office.
Wow. I had a donut shop on Clayton Rd. in the 80’s, and this never happened in Concord. It used to be a nice city.😥
The donut shop was Winchel’s.
Danny K’s. Loved them and nothing has been successful in that spot since!
Plans have since been abandoned–not something after going on 18 years I want to read…I get it, but let’s change it Prospective Developers even in these times, which might be “perfect” City Planning, Engineers, City
Attorney answering to City Council..Step up… I will be making a 2023 commitment in many areas.

The Post Office (Casa Correro Station they once called it) needs a major overhaul. It looks really sad and tired … and it’s always so crowded and busy.
I really like that post office, I hope they stay. I mail all my letters there, inside of course.
Just moved over in this area, and visit here once, and That plaza need a renovation
