Himalayan Curry House, located on Monument Blvd. in Concord, was shut down by the Contra Costa County Health Department earlier this month due to a vermin infestation.

The Contra Costa County Environmental Health Dept. says they found the following during their initial inspection on Nov.4:

  • Multiple rodent droppings, 300 plus noted throughout the entire facility.
  • Droppings were noted below the dish machine, below the 3 compartment sink, in BOTH dry storage rooms, on
shelving in the dry storage rooms, on top of ingredient containers in the dry storage room, near the kitchen hand
sink, under the ice machine in the server area, on the shelving in the server area, the back private dining area,
below the prep table in the server area, in the unused bar, etc.
  • Dead rat under the ice machine.
  • Employee was going to conduct ready to eat cooked rice preparation next to the thawing raw chicken at the 2 comp prep sink.

The restaurant has since been re-inspected and reopened.

Absolutely gross. Should have condemned the place. It will happen again there.

That place can reopen or close.

I won’t be going there.

Any place that is poorly managed should find better managers or close.

Once on the Dirty Dinning list, off my go to eat list. Only take once time on the Dirty list and that’s it for me.

I ordered from there a few months ago on DoorDash. The circumstances leading to this closure is disappointing. I’ll never patronize them again.

Those Rats were a laying alright!

They might try ultrasonic rodent repellers. They can keep rodents out of the place as well as insects. They’re not expensive.

just goes to show you can’t trust review sites… A most common site; people rate them very well….

That’s because we never know who’s doing the reviewing. It could be the owner’s friends and family, or the owner can even pay people to give positive reviews, and throw in a couple of negative reviews to make it appear legit.

Even with all that the food can still be very tasty.

Those were capers…. and the rat was only there to eat the cockroaches.
