The United States Postal Service is asking residents to avoid using the blue drop boxes during the holiday season due to possible theft.
If you do have to use them, make sure you drop your mail off before each day’s collection, and you should never leave your mail in the box overnight or on the weekend.
Some tips from the post office include:
- Never mail cash
- Give your outgoing mail to your mail delivery person or bring it to the post office during regular business hours.
- Sign up for USPS Informed Delivery, so you know when your mail is arriving.
If you see someone acting suspicious around a blue drop box, call the authorities.
.
But stealing mail from USPS drop boxes is a federal crime!
.
… just like illegal immigration.

Did they warn people not to use them to mail their ballots?
In California the majority voters would rather make the law-abiding people stop using nice things instead of arresting criminals who abuse those nice things.
First: Wondering if the ballots found in a ditch where from a regular blue mailbox.
Second: When I send cards with cash or gift cards I always take them direct to the post office since sometimes they are for smaller children.
Third: After I drop them off I call or text the person who will be the receiver that the card has been sent and to let me know they got it.
Fourth: The PO can make delivery mistakes, or get stolen, so if I don’t hear back in at least 10 days I complain to the PO in person.
Several regular mail carriers ago, I met the carrier when he drove up to our mailbox. I handed him an outgoing birthday card that a gift card enclosed, because I didn’t feel it would be safe to just leave it in the mailbox with the flag up. To my surprise, the mail carrier accepted the envelope and immediately began running his thumb over it. It was obvious that he was looking for a gift card. I was relieved later to learn that the card and gift card had been received by the addressee, but I now always go inside the local post office to mail anything containing a gift card or a check.
Ohhh! Theft !! How can that be with democrats in charge. What are the thieves going to get. Five dollars Grandma is sending to a grandchild? Even mailboxes are not safe in today’s America. Absurd.
So…
It’s OK to drop your voters ballot but not a Christmas card?
The post office lost San Jose ballots along Hiway 17.
I finally bought some postage stamps after being out for a couple of years. I hardly ever mail anything and at that couldn’t trust the carrier to pick up outgoing mail because if I didn’t have any incoming they often didn’t stop. For decades now most of my communication has been via email not snail mail. Christmas cards? I make Christmas music videos for folks to enjoy.
