No. Rarely drive the freeway and I would allow more time to get somewhere if it was high traffic time.

Absolutely. I love paying twice for lanes that were already paid for by our money to begin with.

Twice I think. Personally, I’m too cheap and I think the whole thing is annoying, but a couple of times I was with someone and just wanted to get to my destination without as much traffic.

Hello I am new to this. I was wondering if anybody knew where the Galaxy disco was located in Walnut Creek in 1977. Thanks

@JOHN..….Wasn’t that the club on California St. & Newell Ave. across the street from Lucky Store in ’77? Discos weren’t my bag, bongos baby, you dig me?

The Galaxy Disco was more or less across the street from the DMV building. It was on Arroyo Way between N. Broadway and Civic. It was not my type of place and so I never went inside. I did patronize an electronics store that sold parts, much like a Radio Shack, that was next door.

Thanks for your input. Disco was not my bag either. But I had just moved to California I was living in Fremont and some friends took me over there. I didn’t even know where Walnut Creek was. But now that I have lived over here for 40+ years I have always been curious as to where that place was.

OK thank you all for your help with the galaxy disco. Since it worked once let’s try it again. I have wanted to know the name of the fish restaurant that was in Pleasant Hill next to where Chevy’s was. We used to go there for brunch in the mid 80s early 90s and we can’t remember the name of it. Thanks in advance

nope

Only when it says “Free to all”.

.
Never. We already pay enough for roads through the gasoline tax but that revenue is deposited into the State’s general fund and Democrats keep stealing it away from its intended purpose.
.
Democrats … liars, thieves, and hypocrites.

We still have our FasTrak, just for our visits to California, and I do use the toll lanes if there is enough of a backup.

No not as a rule but it is ridiculous since we as taxpayers have already paid for these roads and now we are not allowed to use them unless we pay again?!? That my friends is a load of B.S…..what a racket!

Pre-COVID, once in a while if the rate was not too high ($13 to drive a few miles was absurd, yet I found $4 acceptable, odd…), or if traffic was absolutely stopped. I am betting within a few years, they will just have a toll for all lanes, a fee to use that stretch of road.

Yes.

Do you mean the California government bleed the taxpayers lanes? No thanks. Can’t afford it.
The government excels at thinking of ways to tax the middle class, for the same thing, multiple times – They just change the name of it.
What’s next? Toll booths at every freeway entrance?

When I lived in Concord (which I still do) and worked in Palo Alto, I work retail so often I worked noon to 9 p.m., and missed commute traffic. However, if there was an accident and it meant I would get to work on time, then I would use the toll lane, usually it was not more than a few dollars. However, one time there was a lot of back up from Danville to WC or Concord, and I was about to use the toll lane, then I saw it was $8.00, and since I didn’t have to be anywhere on time I decided it was too expensive.

No………..i use the ones on 580. The problem with those damn things is that you have to have an account to have the little thing you stick in your car and they take WAY too much money out of your card once they see you driving in those lanes every day.

I believe they keep a balance of $25.00, you can call the Golden Gate Bride Authority and ask them to send you a statement every quarter, it will list everything they take out, which bridge, what date and the cost of toll, the same for toll lanes. If you move out of the area and don’t use all your balance you would eventually get a refund.

I have never used the toll lanes. The tolls seem to be far too high. This morning I got onto southbound 680 at Treat in Walnut Creek. As I neared N. Main Street I saw that the toll from there to S. Main Street was either $7 or $9. $7 or $9 to drive 2.5 miles? On Monday I was northbound on 680 from San Ramon to Walnut Creek. They were showing the toll to Livorna Road at the WC/Alamo border would be $4 to $5 (the price changed up and down a few times) despite that the non-toll lanes were running at at easy 75 MPH. They kept price at over $4 even on the final stretch of toll lane when there was a few hundred feet left.

No. I paid for it once already with my tax dollars. It belongs to me. How dare they try to charge me for it, again. Thieves! Don’t use it. It only encourages them! If they didn’t make any money from it, they’d drop the idea.
