A former officer with the Pittsburg Police Department faces a four-count complaint for illegal assault weapon sales and the possession of illegal assault weapons, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

The D.A.’s office filed charges today against Armando Montalvo. Montalvo is charged with two counts of violating PC30600 for the manufacture, distribution, sale, or transport of an assault weapon. He also faces a two-count charge for violating PC30605 (the possession of assault weapons). The first offenses allegedly occurred on November 13, 2019, and the second on November 16, 2019, in Contra Costa County.

At the time, Montalvo was employed as a peace officer with the Pittsburg Police Department.

He resigned from the Pittsburg Police Department on July 8, 2022. Currently, there’s a warrant issued for his arrest.
