Walnut Creek residents apparently like their city council, re-electing Mayor Matt Francois and Councilmember Cindy Silva by wide margins Tuesday.

Francois, a land-use lawyer who’s been on the council since 2018, finished first with 36.6 percent of the vote. Silva, who was first elected in 2006 and served as mayor three times, was re-elected with 33.5 percent.

Challenger and Sierra Club digital manager Laura Patch finished third, with 16.8 percent and estate planning attorney Brian O’Toole finished fourth with 13 percent.

Both incumbents have supported balanced budgets while expanding city services and cultural programs.

They both advocate for downtown businesses and supported expanding mental health services and non-police response teams to those experiencing mental health crisis.

Matt Francois is a good guy. He’s measured, thoughtful, and keeps in mind the public interest. Glad to hear WC residents are keeping him on the city council.

They are putting in ridicules traffic cones in residential neighborhoods that will certainly hurt the home owners they are in front of and they are not needed but Matt will not address the problem. There is one on the way downtown that when making a right hand turn you have to get into the lane of opposing traffic to get around the cone. There is one on San Carlos that is so far from the curb the homeowner has to put his garbage cans in the middle of the street so the garbage trucks can reach the cans. It is crazy looking.

There is a process… Have you contacted WC Traffic Engineering at 943-5834?
.
If you’re not satisfied, then speak to the Director of Public Works at 943-5839.
.
Still not satisfied? Call the City Manager’s Office at 943-5812.

… Or just sit there and whine.

Didn’t know I was whining. Will have to watch out for that. Thanks
