Much-needed rain and snow is forecasted through mid-November, and with it comes potential for more storms to pass through the Bay Area, warned the Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
The electrical company expects the region to endure storms passing by intermittently starting Saturday until at least next Wednesday.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center also forecasts rainy weather through Nov. 15.
“It is looking like the storm door is going to be open for the next week or two,” said Neil Flaiz, a meteorologist in PG&E’s Meteorological Operations department.
PG&E recommends residents to prepare ahead of time to stay safe in stormy weather.
This means reporting downed power lines immediately, ensuring electric generators are properly installed and cleaning up safely after a storm has passed.
In the event of a power outage, PG&E recommends residents to use flashlights and not candles, turn off all appliances and keep a backup phone on-hand.

Everyone..be prepared. Your Utility company may not be able to come through for you in a minor time of need (a winter storm). A real “Electrical Company” would have prepared for events like this years in advance. But not PG&E. For many years, our “privately/investor owned” utility instead elected to divert the necessary funds for such maintenance to prevent damage from a winter storm (or other events – anyone remember the San Bruno fire/explosion in 2010 that killed 8 people?) to the stock holders and employees (especially managers) and shareholders. A few years ago, we met a “contracted” lineman hired to supervise electrical service replacement while camping after the Tubbs and Camp fires. PG&E contracted his company for supervision of new/replacement work in areas subject to wild fires. Were informed that most of the gear they were replacing was from the ’50’s/60’s and should not have been in service. Now PG&E presents their new CEO in TV ads (a woman of course – so you can’t really be angry with a woman) describing how “she”/PG&E are now looking out for our best interest and burying lines. And we have the 42nd highest cost of electricity in the US. Let’s go/yea for California & PG&E. Sure..PG&E is really looking out for our best interests. I’ll take a pass on that and maybe go Pennsylvania Dutch!..Get it…no electricity…
