Contra Costa Supervisors Set To Launch Office Of Racial Equity, Social Justice

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will hear recommendations about the structure and other details about the county’s first Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice (ORESJ).

Supervisors Federal Glover and John Gioia will lead a presentation and discussion summarizing the research and community planning process for the ORESJ’s first fiscal year of 2022-23.

According to a staff report for Tuesday’s meeting, the committee working to develop the new county department is recommending hiring two co-directors of ORESJ.

One director would focus on coordinating and expanding the equity work of county departments, while the other director would focus on working more directly with the community.

An equity committee of the Board of Supervisors, expanded from a current hiring outreach oversight committee, would also increase its scope and work with the county administrator’s office to develop the hiring process for the two co-directors, with community input.

The co-directors would lead the effort to form the ORESJ and hire the remaining staff.

The committee recommends hiring a language coordinator to develop a plan to ensure that residents and families have an equal chance to understand, apply for, receive, participate in, and benefit from services offered by county departments.

The committee recommends hiring a reconciliation coordinator to focus on strategies and actions to address historical harms and inequity, a data analyst, and a budget and policy analyst.

The ORESJ will be a separate county department reporting directly to the Board of Supervisors, with oversight from the equity committee.

The ORESJ will receive $600,000 in funding from the countywide Measure X sales tax increase in its first fiscal year and $1.2 million in fiscal year 2023-24.

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the board chambers of the county administration building, 1025 Escobar St., Martinez. The meeting can be joined at https://cccounty-us.zoom.us/j/87344719204 and viewed at www.contracosta.ca.gov

They are using some of the measure X money. Remember that vague proposition? 600K now, 1.2M in 2023-24, then probably 2M+ the year after. Then the money will dry up and they will put out another proposition to get more money.

Gotta keep racism and division alive and well, there is big money in keeping people separated and hating each other.

This is exactly why you shouldn’t ever vote for leftists.

Your tax dollars at work and play!

That’s right. Tax dollars are being worked and played by a bunch of STUPIDvisors looking for historical harms. What a load of $%!&.

Politician’s kids and relatives need jobs too.

Another waste of tax money.

Lolz, I have the misfortune of working at one of these “WOKE” work places.

‘POC’ are UNTOUCHABLE = therefore they get away with anything.
Supervision won’t touch them. Nobody will day anything about having to go behind them and re-do their jobs correctly.

I stopped doing that, I now take photos of their botched “work” and forward it to Supervision to deal with.

Social Justice Warriors everywhere unite!

Ye has gotten a lot of criticism lately, but did you know Cal Berkeley has “NO JEWS ALLOWED” areas? Why no criticism for them, seems pretty antisemitic…

More UN Agenda 2030? It’s like they don’t know what to do so they follow that maybe feeling it would be popular. I would think you would want your departments to hire the best available people rather than by some kind of equity formula.

I need some Racial Equity and Social Justice.

.
Fundamentally, it’s institutionalized racism. Everything has to be looked through a racist prism.
.
What happened to “Judge a man not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.” ?

What whackjob ever said that?

EXIT 12A… 🙂 I suggest putting a wee bit more effort into recognizing sarcasm. A dolt~ROLLO is not.

I do not consider myself a conservative and I do NOT want my tax dollars going to this! Massive waste of money-meanwhile, the County has multiple important infrastructure positions unfilled. They like to spend all of their money on administrators, managers and this stupid, racist DEI crap but they have stopped hiring the regular people who do the ACTUAL work.

What a waste of Time, Labor, and most of all MONEY!

Oh please! They will NEVER stop with their division tactics…..It is unbelievable that the majority of people in this county would allow this nonsense to continue on and on….it’ll NEVER end, they want us to be divided, they want us to dislike one another. It is a plain as the nose on your face.

“No Whites Need Apply” I trust?

Thanks to all who voted for the tax increase, you should of just thrown the money out a window.

🤦 can’t believe y’all voted for them. Learn your lesson yet?

Follow the $$$$

Oh good. Does that mean they will stop hiring people for the color of their skin.

Wow! In your face. The Office of Racist Equity.
Apparently the unions have not been doing their work since addressing historical harms need to be reviewed. Or just maybe the Supervisors have not be doing their work?
Doesn’t the county have an H R department to do hiring? Doesn’t sound like they can handle it either.
This will be a great position for a couple of “Directors” at no less than $150,000 a year. Fantastic retirement too.
How about starting at minimum wage for these positions? Then they can get plenty of equity raises if they perform. ( Just what is an equity raise?)
Outreach Oversight? Who will they be overseeing? Each City in C C County? I think the cities in the county already perform outreach and oversight.
Ah, I finally did realize that we really need a couple of Directors to Focus on Strategies.
That must be the missing link.
Let’s all focus now!!!
I’m sure they already have the candidates names picked out.
And FINALLY the County will have someone develop a plan. Yes, we need a plan. All these years without a plan. They can’t even hire a project manager because they have no plan. They have to develop one first.
I hope I can get on one of the focus groups. I just had my glasses adjusted and I can see clearly now.
Time to reduce the county budget.
Even our county judges are not doing their job. They just let the criminal loose (Had to throw that one in since historical harm was mentioned)

Do we really need a separate department to address “racial equality” and “social justice? What will this department “actually” do? Seems like a, “Department of Continuing Division” would be a more appropriate title.

Racism will always remain in our culture. As long as it can be used for power and money for politicians. As long as we keep voting for liberal democrats, they will always keep racism in their toolbox.

I would argue not racism specifically, but discrimination in one form or another.

That discrimination may be based on the color of your skin, your gender, the clothes you wear, the way you speak, or just how someone perceives you.

I’m sure the ORESJ will be monitoring Claycord.com to single out those who disagree with their premise. They
will be turned over to the DOJ for further monitoring as violent extremist groups.
This is all coming from the 3rd term of Obama leading us down the path of socialism and control. Biden is just a pimp.

Oh wonderful, now taxpayers can pay for diversity theater – that is, we can look forward to inane stuff that helps nobody but justifies the existence of an ever-growing bureaucracy.
