Contra Costa Yacht Dealer Agrees To Pay Back Taxes, Serve One Year In Prison

A Contra Costa County yacht dealer has pleaded guilty to tax evasion for failing to pay $1.3 million in state taxes, Attorney General Rob Bonta announced last week.

Deborah Reynolds agreed to pay restitution in that amount, as well as serve one year in state prison and one year of supervised release.

Reynolds was investigated by the California Department of Justice after an audit that began in 2019 revealed unpaid taxes from her business as a seller and leaser of yachts between 2017 and 2020.

“Tax evasion is not a victimless crime — it hurts Californians by depriving the state of critical resources and services that families need,” said Attorney General Bonta in a statement.

Reynolds pleaded guilty to one felony count of tax evasion and one felony count of grand theft.

1.3 mill in state tax. Must have been pulling in a lot of yenom.

Ha, ha, yenom. I haven’t heard that word in years.

And the moral of this story is, don’t steal Gavin’s bribe money.

Taxation is THEFT!!

+1

Has she paid her federal taxes? If not, the feds will probably go after her when she’s released from prison.
I couldn’t help but notice, her name is Debbie Reynolds.

Que sera, sera.

They probably spent $2M on the investigation.

Don’t tell Newscum! He will find some non-Californian or non-California supported venture to give it too.

“Don’t steal…the government hates competition.”

all government is theft.

fix the potholes!

Yeah… you really should pay your taxes, AND work like the Flying Monkeys to get tax laws changed. On the other hand — evasion by a hard working individual who creates employment of even more taxpayers… yada yada… I’m not convinced that evasion is a worse crime than what the Swamp Creatures spend the money on once they get their claws on it.

I’ve got no sympathy for her. Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

Funny, this article made me think about this question: Is the state going after taxes on all the income these criminals are making who are stealing within the $950 non- punishable limit and not being prosecuted? Should they be paying taxes too?

Over-taxation and over-regulation are not victimless crimes either.

Bonta should look into all the illegal immigrants working for cash and not paying taxes. He should also start investigating no bid contracts completed by the state which involve “friends and family” of government employees. Also he might want to look into illegal campaign contributions for democrats and “ pay to play” schemes. Otherwise, he’s doing a great job! ( sarc) oh almost forgot, Bonta will anybody be held accountable for the failure and loss of billions on the train to nowhere? Where did the money go? Did Newsom ever pay those pesky real estate taxes on his new mansion?

That pesky mansion was gifted to him by a friend, not sure if he holds title so can’t say anything on the taxes.

.
The state wants the tax money so they can shelter and abet illegal immigrants.
.

Tax evasion is a crime. Tax avoidance is one’s civic duty.
