Additional officers from the Concord Police Department will be on patrol tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. looking for people suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

“We want everyone to be as safe as possible, especially when they are on the road,” Lt. Gregory Rodriguez said.

Concord Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

If you plan on drinking or taking medications that may impact your ability to drive safely, plan on staying at home.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

red light & stop sign violations are also a sign of possible impaired driving. Stop them and it’s a twofer…

Cite all who are stopped for the violations.

CPD; you can arrest more than 2 if ya’ want.

Remember: This is the time the cops start writing tickets to earn money for Christmas.”

🙂

On a wednesday? Good luck

They should do this until at least 2:30-3am since that is when the most drunk driving major crashes seem to happen. After the bars close and they don’t call an uber/lyft/taxi and bad things happen.
