City Of Concord To Keep Open Spaces Closed Through Thursday Due To Extreme Fire Danger

The city of Concord will keep its open spaces closed through Thursday.

Contra Costa County is under an excessive heat warning as temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees much of this week, creating dangerous conditions.

At the recommendation of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the city will keep open space areas — including Lime Ridge Open Space and the open space areas within Newhall Community Park — through Thursday.

The city said hot temperatures will increase the risk of fire danger and create health risks for people.

Closing open spaces will protect the public and preserve firefighting resources.

Fire officials said nearly all fires are caused by human activity and are preventable, and asked people to use extreme caution when outdoors to prevent inadvertent wildfires.

I despise anyone telling me that I couldn’t possibly understand how hot it is, therefore we are doing this for your safety.

“You will own nothing, and be happy”.

@ Anon: You are completely right, Klaus!

Let the Climate Lockdowns begin!

What will it take before people say they have had enough of this Communist (Khazarian Bolshevik) takeover?

These will be setup at the French Laundry, unless you’re on the invite list, then ignore the signs.

Trying to keep the homeless from catching the state on fire.

Thought the hills were closed in-between Treat Blvd and Ygnacio Valley Rd, however I saw four people walking in the hills this morning. Passed by one of the gates and was able to open it. So tmrw I will be going in the hills to get my hike on. It also doesn’t make sense that people can’t go walking but cars going up or down Treat Blvd and YVR can back fire and start a fire or throw out a cigarette and start a fire but it’s closed to those who want to bravely hike in this heat.

@Winnie The Pooh…When was the last time you heard of a car engine “backfire” and start a fire? Also…..”those who want to bravely hike in this heat.”…you’re entitled to do whatever but that just sounds like stupidity not bravery to me, IMO.

Good idea – WC should do the same asap. Too many reckless drug crazed wackos that get fire happy ….

For all of you fools who decide to defy the closed open spaces due to extreme fire danger remember this…..if a fire gets going where you happen to be hiking you would be putting firefighters and precious resources at risk rescuing your sorry selves.

Mr Mayor it’s been years since I’ve participated in Claycord conversations I can’t remember exactly which name I used. If Itsme is not mine please send me an email with the correct one. If not Itsme I know it’s close. Thanks. I’d like to start participating again.

Why on EARTH would someone need rescue if a fire started near them?
They could just walk away….
You would hang around and get trapped?
And space being so limited(open space..ahem)
Sounds so alarmist and snowflakey it’s a sickening imo.
Theres gotta be a better strategy for you to put Concord on the victim train for the day
Relax ,you forgot the sky is falling.

Since it’s open space l suppose no one will keep you from going there for a walk or hike, however l read one statement that said if there’s a fire or emergency we might not be able to rescue you. So go ahead enjoy being outdoors in over 100 degrees. Also someone posted if there’s a fire one
could just walk away. Do you realize how fast a fire spread in these dry hot conditions and if there is wind how unpredictable a fire can be?

James perhaps you should take that up with the fire representative that put that information out on the news a few days ago. Be sure to wave your arms high to get the rescuers attention as you trip running down the hill breaking your ankle fleeing the flames.

James, you can’t find another place to hike for a few days?

why would anyone need to run, youre describing little snowflakes, not humans.
Fires just randomly break out next to someone able bodied and they will need to run, faulter, and waste the time of rescue as they cant get out of a deadly a situation but can stand up fine and”wave their arms”
You can’t be serious.
This poor country.
I can go there or anywhere anytime I want and there is no ore laws because of people like you say parks are racist, remember?

You can’t be trespassed our of PLUBIC OPEN SPACE. Change the law if you want the authority to do this. We are a country of laws. all this administrative state garbage is exactly why you have to deal with MAGA.
