Good news, Walnut Creek! Fire station 4 on Hawthorne Drive is reopening on Monday Aug.29.
When operational on Monday, ConFire says Fire Station 4 will be staffed by a standard three-person fire engine crew consisting of a fire captain, engineer, and firefighter. Three such crews will serve at the station on rotating 48-hour shifts.
One member of each crew will be a paramedic allowing provision of ALS, or Advanced Life Support, emergency medical services from their engine, which is the ConFire standard across the district.
The engine will be well-equipped for EMS responses, in addition to firefighting. In many respects it is a rolling emergency room equipped with the latest mobile medical technology, medical supplies, and medications, to immediately treat a wide range of medical emergencies, according to Public Information Officer Steve Hill.

The Walnut Creek Police Department’s bomb squad had been using this building.
I thank all who serve out of Fire Station 4 for all their service. I also thank all fire and police for their service.
Yes, thank the crew that will be working there. Our local fire station here seems to be very busy with ambulance dispatches. I just noticed that recently within the last year, hearing sirens at least twice a day. It’s a good thing walnut creek decided to open up another facility here, especially one with medical dispatch.
About 90% of the calls are for medicals. Remember that if they treat you & do not transport you – you will be billed $575 & sent to collections if you do not pay. If your neighbor calls for you without your knowledge & you do not want them in any way & they touch you – you will be billed. They have a P/U truck in WC for medicals as they do not need a fire engine that is for a fire that will be tied up when a house is on fire.
