A three-alarm vegetation fire threatened structures near Martinez on Thursday afternoon before it was contained about an hour after it started, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials said.
The blaze, which burned in the area of 4105 Pacheco Blvd., near Las Juntas Elementary School, started at about 4:15.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
Please avoid the area due to the large amount of emergency vehicles.
Thanks to Patricia Gee for the photo.
Gee thanks!
good job first responders! … lemme guess… started by illegal homeless fires that taxpayers have to fuud because our lameduck leadership won’t do anything about it…. tell me I’m wrong?
So who decided these types of fires are no longer called brush fires?
Vegetation fires must be the new woke term..
look up the term brush and you might learn something
I see that it is right by the BNSF Railroad tracks. I wonder if it was started by sparks from a passing train, as train locomotives sometimes emit hot carbon particles from their exhaust stacks.
Nope. 100% homeless fire. They all almost always are.
NBC News just reported it was a homeless encampment that sparked the fire. These guys gotta go!
According to KPIX, authorities are saying the fire originated at or near a hobo encampment.
Really? “Hot carbon particles from their exhaust stacks”? More likely hot carbon particles from homeless crack pipes.
.
Sequestered carbon be free!!!!!
.
Time to call them Bum Fires vs. Brush Fires
If it’s 100% homeless encampment no other structures nearby then let it burn, all of it burn. Fire cleanses everything, so burn em out and force them out.
This is getting so out of control…..
I totally agree. Fires that are started by our homeless populations are putting so many people in danger. We, as home owners, are instructed and in many areas mandated to remove debris in and around our homes to mitigate the fire danger. When do the cities, counties and state step in and mitigate the fire danger from homeless encampments?
These are illegal encampments with people setting illegal fires. If I go camping anywhere in California I am not allowed a campfire. Yet illegal campers are allowed to put others in danger with their activities near our homes. How many homes will be destroyed or lives lost before our elected officials do something to assure our safety?
Ok, rant over.
No…. says it’s contained…..
🙂
Arson is an important ritual in the Homeless culture, so it must be preserved and celebrated.
Actually…. I was ready to round ’em all up and dump ’em out in the middle of a Nevada desert somewhere back when they were throwing rocks off overpasses.
I think that area burns pretty much every year. Perhaps Cal Fire could use it for a training exercise instead.
This is a direct result of climate change! The bums didn’t need fires to cook their food before the climate crisis when wild nuts, berries existed and provided them nourishment. As a result of this unrelenting climate crisis they need fires to heat processed meat in their camps. Can we use some build back better money to get them proper kitchens and the training to operate them?
Oh knock it off…. the only thing these hobos fry is a joint.
Homeless are allowed fires anytime, even on no burn days. Crazy right!
