Contra Costa County (County) is accepting applications for the upcoming Member At-Large opening on the Aviation Advisory Committee (AAC).

The AAC serves as an advisory group to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors (Board) to provide advice and recommendations to the Board on aviation matters related to the Contra Costa County Airports. The AAC typically meets once per month on the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m., at either Buchanan Field or Byron Airport.
Application forms can be obtained from the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors by calling (925) 655-2000 or at: https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/3418/Appointed-Bodies-Committees-Commissions.
Applications should be submitted online or returned to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, County Administration Building, 1025 Escobar Street, 1st Floor, Martinez, CA 94553, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022.
Applicants should plan to be available for public/Zoom interviews, currently scheduled for September 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Airports Committee Meeting.
What does a civilian know about an airport? Well I can tell you. When I was younger I use to fly out of Reid Hillview in San Jose. Since then they built houses all around the airport and now they want the airport to close. They are worried about airplane crashes, noise, and the new one is airplanes use leaded gas and they are worried kids will get lead in their bodies. Never thought about that when they built the houses though. Who do you think they will get on this board. Thats right, people who will want to shut down the airport. It just never stops rolling down the hill.
….. +1 … just like all the water hungry agriculture in a state that has drought history… and building hundreds of thousands of new housing with NO PLAN for water…. you build houses near airports and guess what? There’s airplane noise! really dumb planning…. err – lack thereof
+1
If you like getting high, you may qualify
It’s too bad that the meeting times will limit the candidate pool to retired or self employed people. Working professionals with a full time job will not be able to drop everything and go to Byron or Buchanan Field at 10:00 AM on a Thursday.
Meetings are zoom and last between one and 1.5 hours once per month.
Not like the Board will listen, unless your wallet is out.
