Due to the high number of mosquitoes in the area, the Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District will be using truck-mounted, ultra-low volume sprayers to control adult mosquitoes along the Martinez Waterfront on Thursday morning between 4 a.m. – 8 a.m.
The area to be treated is bordered on the north by the Carquinez Strait; on the south by Rail Road Tracks/Waterfront Road; on the east by Pacheco Slough, and on the west by Rail Road Tracks/Embarcadero Street.
The insecticide being used is Zenivex E4 RTU.
Zenivex E4 RTU. Okay for people, So safe, it can also be used as a desert topping, 😷
@Martinezmike
Or a floor wax.
Yeah that’s what they said about Glyphosate as well lol… they said you could drink the stuff it was so safe 20 something years ago but now we know it causes cancer and there’s tons of class action lawsuits.
I have never heard of Vine Hill or Mococo until now.
cant wait for the class action lawsuits 30 years from now saying “Were you exposed to the chemical Zenivex E4 RTU used for mosquito spraying” and now have cancer if so call now blah blah blah lol
I wouldn’t doubt the company spraying the junk charges a higher fee then pays city council members on the side part of the extra cost they charged to taxpayers to spray the stuff.

Mosquito Lives Matter
.
Yeah….getting eaten alive on the courts. Thank you.
I wonder what this stuff does to the bat population in the area?
KGO ran a story about a non-native mosquito species found in Martinez. Apparently this species is a voracious day-biter, not waiting for dusk or night to feed. It explains the unusually large bites that I received going for walks at the regional park at the Martinez coastline. With other mosquito bites, they never get more than pimple-sized on my body, and if I leave them alone, they’re pretty much gone the next day. The big bites that I have been getting at the Martinez coast this year swell up and the diameter of redness is about the size of a quarter. The swelling is the oddest feature. It happens without me scratching and it lingers for a couple days.
I hope whatever remedial measures the county takes gets rid of them. My guess is that they are here to stay. It’s hard to eradicate flying bugs. Maybe a long cold stretch in the weather will help.
